Nahhh well I saw about four Melbourne players choofing away for a few hours at a bar in Prahran. This was definitely during the season because it was a Sunday night after they actually won a game.

Max Gawn was there but I won't incriminate him because I can only remember him with a few vodka raspberries in each hand. Big Jesse Hogan was definitely having a few darts though.

anybody who is under 30 and smokes (footy player or not) is an idiot!
there is enough info around about what it does
older people didn't have the same info.
my 2 cents worth
something's gotta kill you, if the enjoyment of smoking outweighs the risks, then go for it
as long as you don't blow smoke around me, go for your life

I agree, if being a professional athlete isn't enough, to make it harder on yourself is complete stupidity.

They can say they still play well, but they'd be better without it.

ive heard that a few times that he does, the more suprising part is that he is one of the fittest players & hardest runners at the club
That's maybe an indictment on the others.... he should also see how good he'd be if he didn't do it.

Smokers should wear a space helmet when they light up in public so we don't have to breathe their muck!

I stand next to people you at traffic lights, and blow smoke in their face for shit, and giggles.

Can't say for when he played AFL, but I've had a couple of darts with Fev.

Gawn also still smokes, whether or not it's only in the off-season I'm not sure, but he was playing poker at the Rosstown not long ago with Dunn and they went to a back corner and the big boy charged a couple down.

Have heard rumours that Malthouse's relationship with Betts was bad because he couldn't get off the darts and went a long way to having his papers stamped at Carlton.

Try it with the wrong person and you'll lose your teeth

Peter Matera was fairly well-known as a smoker during his playing days, which is amazing when you think of how the man ran.

You can still see him out the back of Subi for Eagles home games having a puff. Lovely bloke to say g'day to as well.

Do you drive? Shouldn't leave those petrol fumes near peoples faces.
Driving actually serves a purpose
Act like a holier than thou hero telling people what to do with their own life and you may lose yours as well.

Just a thought...
Act like a holier than thou hero telling people what to do with their own life and you may lose yours as well.;)
I never wrote that I would be the one dislodging the teeth.
I merely suggested that the deliberate act described could get the poster in trouble if their victim was the wrong person.
Not me, I'm not a violent person at all:)
