Well, Chikka considering our personal challenge is still on I am about to get two points closer (or maybe 2 further away).
Vultures v Thunder: The Thunder were sensational last week but the 'travel bug' is an issue for them. The Vultures are at the top of their form at the moment and Coorparoo ground is a slight advantage over the Thunder. The Vultures to ruin the party and get up in a good contest.
Sharks v Panthers: The Sharks last 6 weeks have been nothing special, but without gun forward Hughes for some of that time their goal-kicking ability has been limited. Am sure they would like to take better form into the finals. The Panthers have been very solid all year and recent form suggests they are right up there. With Tangles back the Panthers grow an extra leg, but the Sharks at home have the wood over the Panthers and I think the Sharks will find a way to win this one (on neutral ground I reckon the Panthers would get up)

S,with the three Gold coast state league clubs different scenarios have occured because of the gc players. Broadbeach were very short on depth so no oppotunities have have been taken by these players in fact some u18's have played before they are ready, Labrador due to injuries and availablity have had plenty of opportunities and have played both gc listed and u18's (they took 2 to Nt i believe), Southport however is a different kettle of fish, they as previously stated used the GC players for depth, they have only played 2 u18's both against the magpies and each have only had the one game,Fowler came back aginst Mt G as the 23rd player. The contracted Gc players have now been dropped to reserves (because they can't play finals) and the supp list has had names added (see record). I have heard one GC contracted player failed to show for the Sharks reserves. So only Southport have the young guys looking around, the other two have had opps if you are good enough.Mt G looked very good on sat too much run and leg speed in the last quarter.
All square over the week end Oddball.Panthers sensational today and Sharks very undisciplined.Reports to Fowler,James and looks like season ending injurys to Obrien and Wise.No love for each other at Southport.Payne best for Sharks by country mile.Be interesting if Mclaren is picked up on video for striking ( 2 times) even though 2 umpires saw it.Sharks had 1st use of a 6 goal breeze and trailed by 9 points at qtr time.2nd qtr was all Panthers and game over.
It has been Southport culture to always bang up the teenagers in finals and i truely hope that Fowler get whats coming.
Southport will never learn. They will never go at any of the older heads because they now they will chinned.
Well done Panthers.
Panthers outran and out-enthused Southport yesterday.
Fowler is only a teenager himself isn't he? Still go and win the footy young fella, like Bell did time and time again. He was very impressive yesterday.
Some big names hurt yesterday - Gough has to be the biggest doesn't he? Wise, Vearing, Obrien, all the progressing teams lost a big name.
What is the go with Bonney taking dives all the time? I watched him a few times run over to a Southport player and then dive forward. I understand he is trying to win a free kick but it a blight on the game. He is a very good player, he doesn't need to bother with this stuff.
Interesting 2nd week coming up.
BTW who her the Morningside gooses on the balcony, not a good look for the club.
They were well behaved compared to the Southport ferals on the balcony blaming the umps instead of blaming their own players who sniped and back chatted all game.
One quote has to be mentioned after Fowler was dragged." you will not need a shower Mr Fowler as you have just had a bath"
Bell and young ruckman in Hickey were outstanding.Hickey did not have a spell until 2 mins to go after Gough injured after 10 mins.

Boys, why so negitive on the young blokes? Fowler has been a model player through out his playing days to date, I dont think he has had any problems with reports since he has been playing, I am not sure how Tom Bell played (hopefully better that in the 21's game) but for players to want to have a crack at him off the ball, this is certinaly not needed at any level of footy, but then again it is hard for me to understand as it is not in the Fowler type style of play. I must admit I did not see the incident mentioned and I hope that his clean record goes in his favour when the tribunal meets, as he is a good type of kid who is trying to make his way at the sharks after the disapointment of the GC experiance.
We are at the business end of the season an therfore the intesity goes up a notch or two. As another post points out it is going to be a very interesting three weeks ahead - this season has certainly been a cracker with not much seperating the current final four sides, for a punt on the outcome the odds on sportsbet are worth having a look at, some pretty good value and reward if you can pick the winner. Good luck to all.
Fowler is a good spirited kid who is passionate about the game and all its about - a whack to the bread basket is hardly malicious. Pleased he is clear to play. Don't write the Sharkys off - it only takes a week to turn it all around - the good sides can. Bell is a fine talent and bloke as well - lets get joy out of watching all these kids develop Chikka rather than writing territorial rhetoric. To much joy in cutting others down on here. To many pure people forgetting how they became who they are - be it good or bad - we all have skeletons. Are you saying Fowler played better than Bell in the state 21's?Fowler got off as well as James. No mention of Mclaren on net so assume his misdemeanor was missed by all.Would appreciate ThunderDocs report on Nt game.Any reports or incidents out of game Doc?
Any reason given Fowler not signed up by Gold Coast?
Notice on the dvd game of NT and Vultures that Gilliland was the runner.A return this week on the cards?
I would think that highly unlikely. Gilliland is a very bright young lad who would not put his long term future at risk. Mt Gravatt were the better side on the weekend but I don't think the other 3 teams should hold any great fears on the weekend's form.
Jared Ilett broke his jaw in the last quarter, nothing illegal just him continuing to go hard at the ball. Dean Staunton concussed from a late hit and couldn't play any of the last almost 2 quarters !! A very spirited effort by the Thunder boys who really had a dig.
Good luck to the remaining 4 teams - my tip at this stage would be the Siders pending the fitness of their ruckman !
The loss (possible) of Vearing will hurt the Vultures, and as none of us should be surprised not one of the reported Sharks got weeks. The loss (possible) of Wise and O'Brien for the Sharks next week shapes as a big task for the Sharks. A huge contest in the making.

Along with Mclaren not being cited or reported, Carmody will also miss.
Will be a cracking game though love the way the QAFL has improved over the last few years.
Doc, to suggest that the other side's have nothing to fear from the Vultures underestimates just how good the contest was at Coorparoo and how well the NT boys played. A tough contest which was more than worthy of an Elimination final, IMHO.
The Vultures biggest concern will be how they come up next week as it was a very solid hitout and I'm sure there were some very sore boys on both sides on Monday.

Personally, I think it would be great if the Sharks got out in straight sets, but that's a challenge which will not sit kindly with the Sharks.
Hard to tell what the Tigers v Panthers result will be. A good contest we hope!
You would think the Sharks coaching staff will ensure the players do not back chat the umpire this week and behind the play rubbish ensuring the clash with the Vultures will be closely fought out right to the end.Their attack on the football will be vicious I assume, legally.
I am tipping Southport to hit back ( their football culture will get them home ) and Morningside in another tight one.Cannot see Labrador being undisciplined as per Sharks last week

Chikka,
Is it your footy judgement or your fear of the Vultures that has you tipping the Sharks this week, surley with eight straight the Vultures are the real deal and although Southport are at home the form should dictate the outcome of this game, my only thought on this result is that unless the Vultures have not prepared themselves via their selected side with runners around the football at the stopages and within the forward line, the Sharks may have an edge in being able to shut the ball down going forward and on the rebound the Sharks play their best game against all commers, time will tell, and if I am right, this game will come down to who can recover the quickest from the round one contests of the final series played last week. Young, quick legs will be the key to this game.
Panthers are no way near last years form oddball. The smell is in the air though.Good on your SaintsVery hard to think about the weekends games when I am watching the Saints give the Cats something to think about. What about Rooey and Koz, even that 'dud' Milne is going OK. Go Saints!!
As for the QAFL:
Sharks v Vultures: Hard to pick, Wise named but the mail is he won't play, Carmody and O'Brien out will hurt, however the loss of Vearing will significantly impact the way the Vultures attack from the back half. The Vultures are on a roll and the Sharks are having internal ego issues, but on the rebound at home will make them dangerous. I think momentum is important and the Vultures to go through in a great contest.
Tigers v Panthers: Will the Panthers cope without Goughy? How will the old bodies in the Tigers deal with the week off, do they need the break or need the work? The Panthers are in 2009 form, but will be tested by the Tigers 'talls' without Gough. Going for the Tigers, because it's down there, in a very hard fought contest.
Best of luck to all the 'legends' playing for Caloundra in the GF - go Mitch, Ryano, Jakey and the Clarkeys
