Oddball's opinion is that it is disappointing that the Western Magpies have no choice but to drop down a level next year, although not surprising. Shame is that QAFL doesn't have a 'westies' pathway into the State League. It does however continue to show what a significant 'step-up' in standard it is from Pineapple Cup to State League in both player talent and off-field resources. Oddball wonders if, in the future, any Pineapple cup club will ever have the ability to make the transistion, particularly if the next step is to the 'Northern Conference'.
here is the story on the Magpies exit

will a team in the PHC get premoted or axed? the Magpies will probably dominates the PHC comp. sigh

Well the AFLQ were looking into an inclusion of a team from the Sunshine Coast, so who knows.

There have been rumblings Mayne may make way for Magpies. Have you heard anything G? Would be a shame to lose them from the comp, they have improved this year.

where did u hear that. that would be absolute bullshit:rolleyes: the only rumblings would be coming from someone's arse.

Tips for Grand final day (I have commited early in week !)

Ressies - Southport
1s -Siders
Joe Grant Medal - Jacob Gough

Interested in opinions of Chikka and Oddball

Any reason tipping Southport in reserve grade?
Pretty sure you tipped Southport to win seniors flag Doc also. Are you on the Panthers band wagon?

Chikka you know I would never travel by wagon but only by luxury vehicle.

Can anyone tell me if that is Cleve Hughes who appears in the new electricity commercial on the telly. May account for Southport's demise !!

Would make sense though, Mayne wouldn't have won many more than a dozen games over the past 4-5 years. Would give them a chance to be competitive.

2010 to be a repeat of 2009 - Morningside and Geelong premiers. Reckon that will fire up Oddball !!

"Fired-up" - no just really excited!

1) QAFL GF: As much as my head says that the Panthers will have all the answers on Sunday, I just think it would be fantastic that 'another' Gold Coast team were able to break through and win a QAFL flag. Based on that great Saints player 'Spider' being a Tiger I'm supporting the Tigers.

2) AFL Prelim 1: I have a feeling that the Cats are just not quite on the pace. A great side, but the Pies just look to be very focussed. In a great contest (and possibly extra time) the Pies to win their way through to the 2010 GF.

3) AFL Premlim 2: It's simple I will miss St Kilda playing in GF this year , because the Saints and Rooey will win tomorrow. I missed 1913, but saw '65, '66 :D, '71, '97 and 2009. Given I won't make 2010, they will definitely beat the Pies by one point - AGAIN! :D

I should add that the Saints have a really great incentive in 2010 with the passing of a wonderful Saints man in Jack Barker today - tradgically his lad Trevor (a Saints Legend) was taken far too early. If the Sainters have an incentive to win this is it.

Where are you thinking of living? all clubs woould be looking to next year, except for morningside and labrador who are playing in the GF tomorrow.
Who did you play for last year?
