It appears "Mad Monday" celebrations have impacted on your thought process. For the record :

- I was not technically on the Siders bench - I sat near the bench as I did for Mt Gravatt last year. Working on a Consulting basis, on a basis that I help the NZ cricket team and we know how much I hate kiwis !!
- I was not wearing a Panthers polo but proudly had my Thunder shorts and cap

Don't be too hard on Shattock as Kent Abbey was exceptional and Mugavin was explosive in the last quarter. Also the delivery they got was very good.
Congrats Siders and enjoy the celebrations

Only joking Doc.Panthers appreciated it especially getting Gough,Kimble and Nash out on on the field for the final series
Shattock refused to man up and the Panthers well coached to use his opponent up.
See you all at Pineapple Hotel for a long lunch

Yr supporters were certainly vocal.Made for a great atmosphere and the 23 players lost no admirers.
Might have picked to many under done players.Stockdale,Wartova,Susuve all cramped in 3rd qtr. They missed lots of footy during last 8 weeks.
Great cameo up fwd last qtr by Lillico.Set 3 goals up with special touches.

Any word on the new coaches for all Gold Coast clubs in Southport,Broadbeach and Labrador.

Anything? Anyone? Pretty weird having all 3 state league Gold Coast coaching jobs available at once. Add to that, i read that O'brien is walking, thats 4 gold coast jobs available at the moment.

There have been rumblings Mayne may make way for Magpies. Have you heard anything G? Would be a shame to lose them from the comp, they have improved this year.
Pineapple Cup Division2 competition 2011 season
There have been some persistent rumours about the Tigers and their place in next year’s competition, so I asked the AFLQ what the score was and got the following reply from David Heilbron.
“I don’t know where the rumour started but I can assure you that Mayne are part of the Pineapple Hotel Cup competition as long as they want to be. End of Story” David Heilbron is the AFLQ Manager of the Pineapple Cup Division 2 competition
David has also looked at some options since we now have to accommodate Western Magpies – who chose to come back to our Division after failing I Division 1. The two main ones being:
  • All last year’s teams plus Western Magpies would be in this option. A full 20 round season for the 11 teams with byes as needed
  • Have a 12 team competition with some teams now playing each other twice by bringing a team into Division 2 from the Association
A meeting in November will clarify the issue and then it will be full steam ahead in planning for the 2011 season.
:cool::cool:

B&F's that I have heard of so far:

Mt Gravatt: Lake and Furfaro
Morningside: Bonney
Southport: Wise
Redland: Carse
Labrador: Clarke
Broadbeach: Zorko
Aspley: Sheahan
NT Thunder: C.Illett
Western Magpies: ???

Anybody heard of any new recruits on the go yet???

I think a few teams might really try to load up with recruits ahead of the Northern states league.

Does anybody know if the salary cap will be increased (not that it matters for some clubs anyway *cough* Southport *cough*)?

The standard of QLD footy has gone through the roof over the past few seasons in my opinion, and its only going to get better over the coming years with the constant influx of quality players.

I can't imagine the AFLQ would increase it MP. Most clubs would have trouble being able to spend it now. The likes of Morningside manage to spend a lot less due to their long history and strong culture but not all clubs would be quite so well placed.

I'd be surprised if some of the more financial clubs didn't raise a concern about an increase. With talk of increased anti-gambling legislation, even the most financial of clubs can't be happy with the prospect of an escalating spend in order to stay competitive.

That may be a good thing in that talent heading north (and being develpoed locally of course) will have to be well spread amongst the clubs. Managing player expectations and being able to offer enough to convince guys to make the trip though will always be a tricky balancing act.

It has been an increase but I'm not sure to what amount.

Has Grayson left QLD or just expected to be picked up in the draft ( should be a early pick ) ?

Albers and Tyghe from Hornets gone back home

You would think Hickey and Bell from Siders would get picked up in Draft ( biased but they should )

Both - he has gone back to Vic, his state of origin. If doesn't get drafted will play down there.

I'm not biased and i agree, maybe late in draft, but both a very good chance.
