Its not so much if a team has scoring power its comes down to how bad our defence is how our midfield let teams do what they want.

I can't see us winning this one but you never Know. I reckon Brisbane by 40

It's been a long cold lonely winter, gee it's great to have footy back! :footy:

Am not feeling confident about tonight at all, I have a feeling in my bones that it won't go well.

Maybe I'm just managing expectations, but really hope I'm wrong.

Who were the other 2 emergencies after the decision on the Bombers and Thomas and Keeffe this week I have not been watching closely it felt very flat out there.
I did take some photos and I will check them out and get back to you.

PK and BK.....there was talk about Gault and PK having travelled with the team which makes it interesting for a couple late changes.

I think a lot of us are feeling the same 76 - trepidation. Anyway, gotta maintain the faith.

The weather in Melbourne really must be getting out of control. That was meant to be a long hot lonely summer you just went through ;)

It's just great to have real footy back, and it's our first vfl/afl double header too.

All I want to see this season, and that starts today, is growth and improvement in our list and the way we play footy.

We will win tonight, the media has actually done us a favour, the amount of negative crap spoken about us, and then the added pressure of Keeffe and Jts stupidity will galvanise us.

Go pies.

Good luck to the boys I hope they all play well and show the grit that the pies are famous for.
A special good luck to the debutants...and Beamer...if you could kick points instead of goals (this time) that'd be great.

and a ps...Good luck on your 200th Heretier....and hope that Daisy is back and playing soon.

While I feel guilty about it I hope Daisy isn't back soon. My one wish is he doesn't get to 100 games for the scum. He is about to have his first sprog. While I don't want him back his offspring are more than welcome if they are any good.

Pumped for tonight, so good to have footy back! Not overly confident but looking forward to seeing the boys put up a good fight.

Here's hoping for an injury free game (for once)...and if they bring the attitude from opening quarter, the scoreboard can do whatever it likes.

I'm quietly confident on this game. I just don't buy the hype around the Brions and reckon too many people are basing their opinion on the Rd 21 game last August. Given the injuries prior, in the pre-game warmup and during the first half of the game itself there is no way it can be used as a comparitive point of reference, nor should anything arising from the preseason games.

Can never really judge form in Rd 1 and it is not necessarily a predictor of how the season will play out and what the top 8 will look like come August. Pies to win - don't care if it's by 1 point, 10 points or 10 goals nor if it's clean, elegant, scrappy or ugly. GO PIES!

Indeed.

In the round 21 game Beams got injured early and played no further part in the game.

Now with Beams fit and firing ... oh wait

I am a little pessimistic about tonight as I agree our team does not look the best on paper. However that is because of who we couldn't pick rather than who we didn't pick.

And all the pressure and scrutiny will be on him to perform well. Will he be able to handle it and play a blinder or will he stink it up like Thomas did in his first game against the Pies? He should be thanking his lucky stars this game isn't being played at the G

Maxy said some players need to ****ing step up. Well now its time to see how much wearing the mighty black and white stripes means to some people. Given what has happened to two of our players (and allegedly could have easily been 5+) then it seems many players are taking this privilege for granted. Its not sustainable to play on emotion every week but if even player doesn't come out with 100% intent then I'll be bitterly disappointed.

Actions speak louder than words. Recently actions have been pointing to a major lack of commitment to the club. The boys all say they're behind Bucks. Then tonight ****ing prove it. Go out there and win.

Go PIES!

Beams is on a different planet to what Thomas ever was. He is simply a much much better footballer.

Also (not directed at you DinoSoar) but are people forgetting that last year, we won eleven games and they won seven. They only knocked us off after the wheels had well and truly fallen off.

Yes, they have added Beams but their midfield was already their strength last year. Who kicks their goals? Who stop the opposition's? Their backs and forwards are down with the worst in the league. We have also added more quality to our team than they have since that game (our captain for example).

I am quietly confident. In Melbourne I'd be very confident. We are better than them.
