Not debating Lions have a few decent young forwards, just the opinion we should be scared of your "scoring power". If the Lions win it will be off the back of midfield ascendancy.

Be surprised if either team gets more than 11-12 goals for the match
Shifting your argument now. You said both teams wouldn't score anymore than 10 goals and Brisbane were the 16th ranked for goal scoring so they will be shite again tonight...
Thier team is good for more than 10 goals.

Beams is on a different planet to what Thomas ever was. He is simply a much much better footballer.

Also (not directed at you DinoSoar) but are people forgetting that last year, we won eleven games and they won seven. They only knocked us off after the wheels had well and truly fallen off.

Yes, they have added Beams but their midfield was already their strength last year. Who kicks their goals? Who stop the opposition's? Their backs and forwards are down with the worst in the league. We have also added more quality to our team than they have since that game (our captain for example).

I am quietly confident. In Melbourne I'd be very confident. We are better than them.

Agree with you 100% Boris, couldn't have put it better myself.

Pumped for this game! Was confident until I read some some of this thread though. About to head off to the airport and up to Brissy. Just for anyone travelling up there the lady who runs a nearby motel I'm staying at says internet is out in the Brisbane area so make sure you have hard copies of anything you need just in case

pretty pumped

this was the type of game the old Collingwood would come out and give it everything. We will find out pretty quickly if there is any spirit in this club today

That's my hope. Last year was so lacklustre both the fans and the team seemed to lose their spirit. Really want to see some old school Collingwood passion this year!

Can someone explain to me why Ramsay is in the side? Went to the Bulldogs-Pies preseason game and was the most useless player on the ground. I know he's a kid, but he's so slow and clumsy with the football. We really don't need players like him.
To contain their forward power. Probably play on a Christensen/Zorko/Taylor type.

What sort of country do we live in that has no internet in a major city?! This is third world stuff except that 3rd world countries generally have faster internet than ours. What a disgrace!

So this game hasn't been played yet? Reading the comments on here today I just assumed the game was over and we'd been thrashed.

And here I've been alternating between deciding who our next coach should be and shaking my fist at the moon for nothing. I feel like such an idiot. A total, total idiot.

Pies by plenty.

Well I guess the comments come from a poor 2H2014 and NAB Cup effort. To date I have seen no signs or glimpses of a solid, confident, organised backline.

I think you're just staying in shitty accommodation dude. :p

We have the better defense and forward line than they do. Their midfield is slightly better than ours with the addition of Beams. So really, if we can get the ascendency in the midfield, then there's no reason as to why we can't win this and win well. The Lions are still a very, very young side. So are we, but we have a few more experienced heads out there.

Pies by 21.

I'm staying a few hundred metres from the ground and the Internet is fine:thumbsu:

You are right JS. This is a real test for us tonight, probably 'in the head' as much as anything. Its round 1, I can live with a loss, but I want to see some spirit.

daisy is a mercenary
Loyalty in football left long ago, now some teams are able to get players to stay when they are in the premiership window but as soon as the window is shut they often look elsewhere.
Why wouldn't you look to set yourself up for life after footy.

Funny how these guys get baked for doing this, would you not take a bigger salary by a opposition company?

Thomas was a cancer during 12 and 13 then was arrogant in his departure. Beams was at a pub while the b and f went on and his life may have turned out differently if not for the club.

Dawes and Lumumba are guys who have left that I can respect, as they seemed to understand they were privileged even though they left for other opportunities.
