Nah- I have my own thoughts sometimes :)
Just loved the efforts of Eardley. I only saw him in the televised games but thought he was such a hard worker and I was so disappointed that he was delisted after such a short time.
That's why I mentioned daz, one of eardley's biggest fans

chapman as a sub in the first final i dispute, and when we all look back i think we all can say that they got it wrong.

The GFC failed in MANY regards in 2013 during the run up to finals and during.

I don't think some realise how good a chance we were last year. We literally blew our last chance at a flag with this group IMO. The Qualifying final should go down as one of the worst losses in the Club's history. It certainly was.

Doubtful.

We were never going to win the Premiership with the way Hawkins was moving and with both our rucks injured for the season, not to mention Enright missing.

Looking back, that side we sent out against Freo, we did well to get that close.

If HMac came good last year and Lake broke down at Hawthorn we would have made the GF, bit of luck probably won the flag... Sliding doors

I'm with you. That flag was there for the taking. Until that first final was dropped.

I knew I came back here for the comedy... "Ball magnet Cameron Guthrie"? Who failed to even average 13 disposals in 2013? Plus, you're comparing one player who's had 2 specific shut down or run with roles, to a defender with freedom to run and create. Couldn't be a more ridiculous comparison.

I commend some of you for your one eyed views but c'mon. This is nothing but laughing stock. Surely you're taking the piss, right?
Isn't the objective of both players to shut down their opponents first and foremost then to run and create?
Can't see the difference personally.

Not quite. Enright wasn't missing; he got injured during the game.

Irrespective of whether we would have won the premiership, we would have had a much, much better chance of winning that particular game with a) Chapman on the ground from the start, b) an actual ruckman in the ruck, and c) Varcoe not being gifted games on reputation.

I think this may be a game where Taylor spends some significant time forward with Magpies being shy on tall KPs

I agree on the theory but not the execution. they are short on falls down back and yes can be exploited for it but with Cloke and that MF they have I don't want him or anyone getting a sniff. Leave Domsy, Mack and HT at home and play HMac, Blitz, Brown and even Daws forward more to stretch them.

I really think the Pies will be up for this and while HT can provide us a forward option I think we have others to do that before him. Now, as an attacking KPD that pushes forward and burns Cloke off on occasion I'm all for it.

Don't get me started…..:(

gone but not forgotten….Any kid that backs into a pack gets smashed in two by a 32 YO ruck man twice his size then effects a spoil about 12 secs later to force a throw in gets a tick for mine.

Must say that Burbs efforts of late ( last few months) have stirred the strings a bit however. That bloke is hard at it...

Im probably one of the 1/2 full people on here but I agree with this. Even if TV had kicked that goal and tied with Hawks, we were dead. We had no nothing left. If we had the week off after beating Freo, then maybe but it was not our time. Pisses me off to think it might have gotten away but unlike a toe poke in 09, it just didn't go our way…

Sort of just missed the Buckley presser.
But he was talking about how they need to look at how we structure up our talls (or something like that)
.."And Blicavs, who they have been playing everywhere".

he he.

I'd like to see Thurlow come into the side because he has the agility to compete with Elliot in the air while also matching it with him at ground level. The way Collingwood's mids deliver the ball from out of the middle, I'm not entirely sure it's the game for Bews to make his debut, need a little more experience. Kelly, Lonergan, Taylor, Thurlow, Guthrie, Mackie looks a very settled back 6 imo.

Yep, fair point, and not the worst idea. Plenty of other games to give Bews a taste.

The funny thing is throughout the pre-season and the first two rounds, he has played almost exclusively on the wing. Glad he thinks that though!

I'd love to see his gps mapping.
I really doubt there would be a dot on the wing.

Take Sunday for example, he was running to West and Luey when Simpson and Hmac moved forward.
And he was the one running deep back.

And when Mayes got the ball and Healy (i think ) made some comment of "inexperience there from Blicavs"
Well Blicavs had run to the goal square to cover Taylors arse by getting to Brown who was alone.

I'd say he was everywhere.

I'd say he was everywhere.

He was exploited a couple of times by Mayes, and by Moloney who snuck away and kicked a goal in the third quarter. That's going to happen though, players don't come with a ready-made defensive awareness. Not at this level.

But he's certainly not playing as a defender, and he's not a forward, so I'd say wing is pretty close to the mark.

Every player on the field (apart from maybe the full forward and full back) run everywhere now too.
