Catherine Deveney reports that satire on the interweb can be missed by some.

So...errr...how 'bout those Crows eh?

To Crows fans: do y'all think your 4th quarter last week was because you played well, or did North put the cue in the rack?

The only card I have ever had around here was for sarcasm.

What I posted was poor satire and if it deserves a card it will be for just that, bad comedy. Don't take too all too seriously. I learnt that a while back.

Peace and enjoy a cold one brother:).

IMO it was worthy of a commendation at least. Top post. :thumbsu:

I apologise for my poor humour:).

John,

I accept your apology, as long as you withdraw your post. John you must be aware that if that sort of post was just between the 2 of us that would be a different matter. The fact that Iriel has also decided to get involved makes for a potentially explosive situation. I wouldn't call it bullying but it could easily develop into such.

Let us remember that as football people we should all wear thick skins.

Now it is time for a Coopers Sparkling- drinking Rogers does nothing for the rep around here.

As for the 50 bucks, mate if i had the coin i would put it in, 2 little ones and another on the way with only one income (putting kids in daycare is not for us-no offence intended) you can appreciate 50 dollars is alot of money.

As for the game

I think our B grade midfield will enjoy more freedom and less pressure than what they have experienced over the last 4 weeks. This hopefully will allow them to bring the ball through the corridor with a little more precision. I expect to see some changes to the forward line this week. More leading options, personally i would give Adcock an opportunity up forward.

Austin hasn't played well since his return and deserves a run in the 2s

Obvious concerns with him include
Not tall enough to be key position
Not fast enough to break lines
Has not demonstrated anything to suggest he could play in our midfield

I would think he needs to go back to the seconds and reinvent himself.

The weather may possibly be pretty awful this sunday so if Fev or Clark are a late withdrawal Austin or hopefully Johnstone may replace him. And if the weather is bad it could be a good opportunity for Banfield to really have a big impact and get a few goals.

Sorry lads.... word about down here is that Fev won't play...which is a shame ...coz I actually quite like Fev ...just whispers , but heard from two people who probably would know.;)

Lions ruckman Mitch Clark flies out for crucial Crows test

BRISBANE'S hopes of snapping a four-game losing streak have increased with ruckman Mitch Clark joining his teammates on the flight to Adelaide.

Ash McGrath, who was also in doubt after injuring his elbow and leaving the field in last week's 81-point loss to Geelong, was also on Friday night with the 23-man squad that included Travis Johnstone as an emergency.

But the Lions have yet to decide if full-forward Brendan Fevola will play against the Crows at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.

Given Johnstone is not a key position player, it appears the club holds hopes Fevola will have responded to a week of intensive physiotherapy on a torn abdominal muscle by this morning to take his place.

Vice-captain Jed Adcock took no part in a training session at Coorparoo on Friday and, although he travelled with the team, could be considered doubtful.

Would rather if Fev didn't play TBH.
Yah,give him the week off if he's marginal.

A freshish Fev could be handy against the Pies-he's likely to fire up.

If we can't beat the Crows without him we are not top 8 so what's the point?

At the moment I would replace Adcock with Travis and Fev with Cornelius, we should win anyway

I agree with this. An injured Fev is not giving us anything anyway, so give him the week off, give him a better chance to be ready for a bruised/battered Collingwood, and back ourselves to beat the Crows without him.

Hey all, obviously a lot of people are frustrated with the current events (losing 4 in a row with injured players..). I love the passion some people are showing in this thread and I also appreciate how calmly some people are taking it.

Sure we are 4 - 4 with 4 losses in a row but the season is not over!!

Out of those 4 losses we have lost to: Geelong, Fremantle & Sydney.. all potentially top 4 teams who came at us with near full strength teams, with the exception being Melbourne who are probably more like 12th - 8th rank side at the moment.

Sure Brown & Fev appear to be struggling, Drummonds gone for a while, Clark is having problems, Brennan out for 6, Merrit seems a week by week thing. That's five of our best players gone or hampered by injury!! Add to that other injuries, stupid MRP decisions and we have spent a large portion of the last 4 weeks playing without a core component of our squad.

Voss has only been coaching this team for 1 year and 8 games... He needs time. As do the players to get used to the game plan.. Take out your Fullback, A few back flankers, Ruck, CHB gets rubbed out for a week and that is a very difficult gap to fill, even more so when the team is just starting to become comfortable with the game plan. Especially when your forwards are hobbling around!

I noticed in Vossy's post match interview last week he commented a lot on how we failed to execute passes once we had made decisons more so than if we made the right one- he just wanted them to hit the target ... Let's give the guys a chance to take the game on.. it might cost us a few games but if we can start moving it quickly especially out of the back half it will be to our benefit.

It might sound stupid but this may be a blessing in disguise, the team is having to work extra hard because we aren't fielding our best 22. All our players need to contribute to win. Some guys are playing out of position, or just don't have the usual support/disposal around them. If we can start putting a few wins together.. Watch out for when our senior players start making their way back into the side round 14 - 22!!

This is a must win game, this is the game for us to find some form and get our season on track. Give the boys a bit of confidence and belief that we can win games even without some of our star players. I would love to see the guys get out there and just attack attack attack. Take some risks, get some confidence back in our disposals/game plan.

Go Lions!

^^ Which indicates Fev is in.

There are more than a few guys really playing for their spots for the rest of the season. Let's be honest, if we had the depth, even with the injuries we have at the moment, more than one change would have been made.

Redden needs a big one in his home town. I think he will play well.

Clark, although returning from injury needs to provide a big option at either end of the ground with Merrett injured, Fev and Browny struggling with fitness, and Leuy doing his best work as a sole ruck. It shouldn't be a problem to have Clark and Leuenberger in the same team - it should be a luxury. Unfortunately both seem to play better without the other (or perhaps more accurately, when given the full responsibility in the ruck). I don't know what we need to be doing, but surely we should be benefitting by having them both in the same team.

Adcock has been pretty deplorable IMO since his return and needs to find some form quick-smart. Last week a turnover up the field left his opponent isolated in the forward 50 on more than one occassion.

Rischitelli needs to work harder now that the opposition are starting to apply more pressure. I would take him and Johnstone performing at 80% of their best 100% of the time, rather than having the occassional blinder mixed in with 2 average games, and 1 howler.

I am at a loss as to why Buchanan is still in the team. Another poor one and I say we cut our losses and look elsewhere. I really don't know what he is meant to be giving us, and worryingly, I don't think he knows himself.

And it's about time for Polkinghorne to have a break-out game. I'm a fan of his but with Brown and Fev down atm, it's time he becomes that 3rd leading option that we have seen in glimpses.

Surely we have the hunger to win this one. Lose it, and it could well be season over with a cut Collingwood next week.

I thought Polkinghorne had a break out game last week. If he'd put in that performance in a winning side there would have been a lot more made of it.

He had a high possession low impact game. Three goals to complement his possessions would have been a breakout game. However in a winning game last week's effort would be very acceptable.
