AFL Silver Membership Waitlist Number Part 2

In 2008 I got a ticket through the Geelong ballot and my brother got a ticket in the AFL reserve through a mate. He left the reserve to stand with me, so it’s not uncommon for single seats to be unattended so people can hangout with their friends or family.
^^^

2012 was in standing room M15 to see Hawks lose.

2013 got 'restricted' seats in Q (really just one of those rails that is hardly restricted) but totally ignored them and went back to M15 standing with 2 others. IE: 3 empty seats in Q. It's not always what it seems.

Got Gold membership in 2016 and exited the program same year. Always try to keep across this thread to see how much more the AFL is really shitting on it.

Exactly... you can't blame them in a way.. if you could put $200 on top of the ticket 🎟 and you had 2 of them $400 extra cash goes a long way in the current times
Don’t be naive, majority would’ve been corporates giving tickets to their swans or lions supporting friends as they didn’t care to see an interstate grand final

Optimistic. I would say 20-25 years. Progression will slow right down
Once we're getting into that many years, it's almost certain that there'll be structural changes to the nature of the membership, as often discussed on this thread and the survey they put out, combined with potential rebuild of the Southern Stand.

Seems that way...bit unfortunate.

In an unrelated matter....I've decided to set plans in place for my family to continue renewing my membership when I one day pass away.
I don't think that's possible in you passing on your membership once the membership holder passes away, aa there would be no new members

Maybe they'll shock us and upgrade 3000 people.
I had a conversation with them a few weeks ago and pretty much got told roughly 1000-1500 get upgraded every year, I’m high 8000’s and said so I’m still looking at roughly 10 years and he said yes
I’m currently in year 10, so would mean a 20 year wait

I was being facetious with my 3000 wish.
A few in this thread have had multiple conversations with them this year and received different responses on each call.
FWIW I was in the low 8000s at the start of 2020 and I have moved up just over 4000 places in those 4 years. 2023 was over 1400 places and the others 3 years were all in the 800s. 1000 to 1500 would be an improvement if it eventuated

It's more like 600-800 get upgraded each year based on the last 8 or 9 years and some years only 300 got upgraded. There have been other years where 1200 or so got upgraded but on average it's closer to 600-800 so could be anywhere from 10-15 more years realistically.

20/21 were the years the upgrades went off the rails due to covid , also lapsed gold members were offered to get back into afl pretty much for a yearly membership.that corrupted the queue
