I'm starting to think I'm happy to drift back to 13 (15)

Starting to think a Matt Johnson or Goater could still be available and I'm happy with Knevitt aswell I have him higher than most

I also like the notion of paying part of Lobbs contract so GWS can get him and play the tallest forward line ever. Not allowed but we will find a way

Well, he has family in Melbourne - Brad Hill, and I think Courtney Ugle as well (?) Other than that, not sure. I don't think his girlfriend is from Melbourne.
Hmm. My point in asking was that if we're giving up draft capital to get him , I'd like to have some confidence that the compassionate grounds indicate a strong link to Melbourne/Victoria. I'm guessing that Brad Hill and Sydney Stack are every chance to head back west at end of their current contracts. All the more reason to be cautious in our trade dealing with Giants.

I still find it quite annoying in the afl how contracted players nominate clubs.

it’a surely gotta be changed next negotiation. Clubs should be able to negotiate with any club or even a state at a minimum.

At best give contracted power to the clubs not the player at all.
Most clubs who have players wanting to leave will be happy enough to negotiate a deal with the players’ preferred club because it looks good to the other stakeholders in the industry if they don’t act like campaigners.

It’s a two way street though, the player also has to pick a destination that’s committed to paying the price required, or else the player will need to have a second preference, or stay at the existing club for another year and try again, or else they sit out altogether.

I don’t see how that’s an issue really. Shiel nearly went to Carlton. Bryce Gibbs and Tim Kelly spent an extra year at their respective clubs. Cam McCarthy sat out for a year. There was someone else that ended up at a different club to the one they initially picked too but idr the name atm.

This went through my thoughts as well. Hasn't Brad Hill sought trade more than once? If that's Bobby's role model, do we expect a similar situation?
...or I'm overthinking it and we just play the cards we have.

Maybe I have not watched enough of Hill but for me he can be very selective at

Brad Hill is unlikely given they moved back over here from WA so his wife could be close to family.

I don't want to give up an F2 for Hill (done nothing) or Stengle (bad influence for the kids).
Would our F2 satisfy Hawks for Wingard and would he be happy to play small forward (maybe a tiny bit of midfield)?
He's good for 3-4 years by which time the Davey boys should be up and running.

i think there is an age element to the Hill trade that brings F2 into the picture. Its a bit of crystal balling too, but we could very well lose that pick to a Davey bid, so trading it for Hill + points (i.e F2 for Hill & F4) could work out in the long run.

I appreciate what you're saying, but I just don't think he's worth it. I'd want at least a 3rd back. He was a pick 20 but has played like a pick 40-50.

Their board seems to think a F2 & 13 for 11 is fair value. Is a F2 that different to a F2 and a 2 pick upgrade? Be interesting to see what happens but it appears that the supporter bases aren't that far apart.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but are they saying they want more than an F2?
FMD!

I think you're wrong. And there's no way our F2 isn't part of the Hill deal.

Davey twins are good. Very good.

Walla's run without injuries makes his age irrelevant. He can easily play to 33 if that continues.
One of them is very good the other is quoted as not being up to AFL standard as yet

Yes, a F2 and a swap of this year first rounders 11-13. It's not much more, it'd only impact if there was a player we wanted at 11 that was gone at 13.

I don't see it but to be fair they've seen more of him than what i have (i didn't watch the final this year, but apparently he did some good stuff).

My thoughts are he's young and was taken pretty high in the 2nd rd not that long ago....i tend to think when they're contracted that should be close to the value. He managed a decent number of games this year so injury doesn't play a factor.

They want more than an F2, i'd want something back
Will be interesting how the clubs see it. GWS are under zero pressure to trade him. We aren't super desperate for him given we have Tippa, Dev & Snelling.
