Apparently Essendon is making a play for Harry McKay. Why not wait next year when he’s OOC and a free agent? We’re not winning the premiership next year so we may as well use the two firsts that it’s going to cost and make an offer Carlton can’t match. No need to do it this year. There’s no reason Carlton will let go of McKay given they’re looking to challenge now.

Unless Carlton desperately want pick 4 or something has gone on behind the scenes that no one knows about, there would be no chance McKay is leaving Carlton.

Doubt he would cost a lot

Jayden Hunt for mine. Good speed and fitness and hard nut. Has kicking issues but could be played as a half forward pressure type for a year or two until Davey is ready.

Like last year when it was said that cripps took less on his deal, but he’s still on over 900 a year.

If all these ridiculous numbers that are thrown around were true we wouldnt have enough space to re sign Matt Owies. Cripps, Mckay, Curnow and Weitering all took large pay cuts to keep the team together and add more talent. They've each spoken about it extensively and people close to the club have backed that up

You also have guys like Zac Williams and Mcgovern on 800-900k a year. Good luck with your salary cap next year....a few guys will be squeezed out.

Which is my point exactly. Most of these numbers are hyperinflated by the media. I'll go off what the players have come out and said over what Tom Brown and Sam Mcclure say. I remember this old chestnut...


Media are a pack of *******s looking for any headline possible. Half those players aren't on anywhere near what's reported.

Yeah nah it’s been widely reported that cripps is on 900 odd, that’s cripps taking less. he could’ve easily signed a Fyfe like deal at freo, after he’s carried Carlton for 5 years. It’s been widely reported Curnow signed for 800+ could’ve got more per year but signed a longer deal for security.
Next year you’ll be saying mckay has only signed for 750 a year aswell? Get ready because he’s going to cost Carlton a mint.
