I thought Bowes rejected us ? Why the talk about him if he rejected us ?

Might still be able to get involved but if Bowes didn't want to come, not sure what the discussion is for.
Reported but who knows.

800k is apparently what he's owed. How many clubs can offer that?
We could do with the player and the pick and the salary to make the floor.

It'd be funny to land bowes and setterfield. If i recall, thats 4 of my top 10 from the draft on our list. Shame we couldn't entertain taranto too.

Was only reported by a random twitter poster account. Hard to find it confirmed

He may have rejected us. But until it’s concrete fact we should be in up to our eye balls. We could even extend his contract

That's fair.
I thought he outright said no.

If it's possible then yeah, we'd definitely need to make him a top offer.
Had leadership qualities too didn't he ?

Dont recall the leadership stuff but jack graham is who we want there

22 for graham
F2 (perhaps f3 as well) for bowes and 7 (cant believe that deal is as cheap as just an f2)
Offer both good coin

Bytel for something cheap

4-sheezel/cadman/tsatas/wardlaw
7-clarke/humphrey/mckenzie
A.Davey bid
Munkara + j.davey

If we pulled that off that would make my year

If getting Bowes, Robertson, Collier - Dawkins, Bytel is a reality, does that change who we bring in at draft time?
It would to a degree but it depends on how picks 2 to 4 play out.

Robertson off to WA if he leaves. I’d honestly bring in anyone with talent who can provide depth.

This has been a big reason why I would have no hesitation in moving on McDonagh, Hird, Waterman, Ham, Francis and evolve into a decent VFL (at least) midfielder or two, that would be a huge boost for me on our list. Bonus points if they can end up playing some decent AFL football.

Gut feel says Bowes joins the Cats.
Not on that salary. If he does it will not involve pick 7 as GC will be paying a decent part of his wage.

don't see it.
reckon it's us or North. We'll both pay the coin. 800k is nothing to sneeze at for a couple of years.
North have the additional futures, so could take the salary dump, pick up 7 and have a player (as stipulated)

yep. enough with the projects. they dont seem to come off for us.

I would be bitterly, bitterly disappointed if this happens.

Not only Bowes but two former early picks for (significant) under one would assume (Bruhn and Henry) would seriously piss me and hopefully a number of other supporters across the competition.

Dunkley (Dogs finished 8th) wants to join Brisbane (who finished 6th 4th),
Luke Jackson (Demons finished 2nd) wants to join Fremantle (who finished 5th)
Dan McStay (Brisbane finished 6th) wants to join Collingwood (finished top 4)
Tanner Bruhn (Gws finished 16th) wants to join Geelng (playing in grand final)
Jacob Hopper and Tim Taranto (GWS finished 16th) want to join Richmond who finished top 8
Willie Rioli (WCE finished bottom 2) wants to join Port (Port finished 11th and many tipped to be top 8)

But yep, that equalisation

some of those aren't bad.
the issue is clubs like GWS and GCS overpaying to keep players, then needing to dump/restructure and taking unders so relieve their cap.

If the AFL is going to sign off on these salary dump trades, one hopes they keep equalisation in mind.

I don't mind projects, we just pick the wrong type of projects.

Our 'projects' are all flanker types. You pick 'projects' in individual roles, ruckman (Myke Pyke, Dean Brogan) or midfielder's (Hugh Greenwood), not even necessarily from Cat B's but projects in the rookie drafts etc. We always seem to want to take an already started to develop 'project', Ambrose, Dylan Van Unen, Mark Baguley etc. etc. Let's not be confused with playing lots of football in our worst time in our history as establishing it as a line of success.

Understand that but it is happening year after year and these top teams should be paying better players more money but instead they seem to land big fish.

Brisbane finish with a top 4 finish (post finals) then land an AA squad midfielder (Dunkley), the number 1 draft pick (Will Ashcroft) and another inside the top 30 (Jaspa Fletcher) all at the expense of Dan ******* McStay being over paid.

Understand it might be an exception but it feels like it is happening every year.

I think it will be down to whoever Bowes nominated out of us and Norf. Norf currently have more future picks but they’ll be eaten up by Logue, Hill, Clarke and Tucker. Plus, the ‘Clarkson factor’ has taken on a whole new
meaning. I’m more confident we can get Bowes than anyone else.

Our job is to get the club in order and then we will become a club of choice
our last coach was appointed without process
we have no ceo
we have a president who has made a rocky start
we have a list manager who isn’t fully respected in the industry
if we nab a some good kids and a perhaps one best 22 vet then we have done incredibly well
we will get the good kids but just not sure aboutthe vet
in a years time we could be in a smashing position

My discontent is not necessarily directed towards us but at the competition as a whole

Well clubs need to get their shit in order to be players .
Blues finally managed to attract players. Saints attracted players.
I personally do not think it I an issue.
Not like one side is winning the comp every year .

Agree 100% we missed out big time the last few years at addressing our inside mid stocks. Went for the shiny item in Dunkley while missing out on Hewett, Brodie and Dunstan who were all dirt cheap.

Also messed up the maximum value of countless players we could have traded which has bitten us. Francis, Ham and Langford are the three latest we should have got value from.

Not a huge fan of our 2020-2021 drafting either tbh.
Happy with Hobbs and Perkins although I don’t believe either of the two will be elite A grade players. Reid I have hopes for but his still developing and has struggled with injury. Looking back at it now we should have picked O’Driscoll which many on this board were calling for.

Cox, has talent but seems to be another back flanker which we have an over abundance off. Can he play second Ruck?

Eyre and Brand are developing slowly due to the lack of our midfield at VFL level. Brand has shown signs as both have cemented places in the backline. Was a mistake drafting Reid/Cox while we had these two connected to our academy. Not sold on Alistair Lord yet but has shown glimpses. McDounagh was a useless pick and we all knew it.

We’ve since taken Voss and Baldwin as further possible key position talent in the rookie draft. Both showed talent at VFL level.
Have been impressed with our recruitment during the mid season draft. Durham and Ambrissio both look like talents while menzie has potential.

For 2023 we have to make maximum value from Zerk-Thatcher and Parish come trade time. If we finish bottom four in 2023, we get a top 5 pick for parish in a stacked draft. Zerks shown improvement but Reid, Cox, Brand and Eyre should all be vying to play key defence by 2024. We need to continue bringing in talent but we need to get in a new set of eyes in recruitment.

Wishlist for the 2022 off season
Jack Bytel St Kilda
Liam Stocker Carlton
Tom Phillips Hawthorn
Toby Bedford Melbourne

4- Harry Sheezel
22- Issac Keeler
40- Alwyn Davey
58- Anthony Munkara
78- Jaden Davey

How many 200 cm back flankers are playing the game ?
Even if he does play flank he will out mark anyone he does play on .
