Read my post n the make up of our list thread .
I clearly stated we have tinkered around the edges and we still lack hard edge leaders and players who can win contested footy around the ground.
I get it . I just do not wind myself up over it .
It is what it is and no amount of yelling at the clouds can change it.
And I do not really rate Long . Average player.
Yes we need some list balance . Leaders. Marking types. Contested ball winners.
That is why I have said more like 5 years than three years if they can get it right which is no guarantee.

Yelling at the clouds isn't going to not change it either.

Don’t recall seeing that anywhere but I thought Caro had things to say about Smith a couple of months ago

Imagine picking up him and a quality key forward... hmmmn, say JUH.

Draft a gun half back of the Keidan Coleman type.

Smith is the wrong size for us IMO, he's the same size as most of the rest of our midfield.

Theres some decent players in that list, I dont think we need to waste trade capital on Smith, could easily go down free agency route again and address more holes in our list (would love Isaac Cummings and Willem Drew or Jarrod Berry)

Not worth it. Going to get massively overpaid, plus give up decent draft capital for another mid who can’t kick. Let someone else overpay him, if he didn’t have his looks and mullet he’d just be another stock standard mid.

His running power is good, but he's a bit of a butcher and without a POD size-wise I think he's not the right fit. Would be a very Essendon pickup though.

yeah Im not a biggest fan either, but I can see why teams are sniffing around due to the running power.

Smith is only 22, so the age demographic and the upside on what we've seen is massive.

If we're spending big money though, I'd prefer to go after a key forward. I've mentioned before that JUH or Thilthorpe are interesting to me. We also still need another Setterfield / Tom Green type of player and a rebounding half back.

A lot of people here seem to be bagging the idea, but if we did bring Smith in we automatically look different. Our running capacity and tenacity at the contest improves immediately if he comes in. Four wings though; Durham and Duursma would play VFL.

Edit: I also would prefer to explore free agency first though...

I wouldn't mind Zurhaar as a Stringer replacement.

So we would spend potentially 900k plus and a bounty of draft picks for smith to play on the wing?, and Durham and duursma play vfl? Do we get that much better for all we have to give up?
Yeh hard pass on all of that. You’re only recruiting smith if he’s going to be full time on ball.

Jarrod Berry ought to be our priority number 1. Brisbane won't be able to match what we can offer and he is a perfect fit for what our midfield needs.
