Soccer is a game of skill.
Thugby is a game of toughness
Football is a game of skill AND toughness

Soccer is a game for people who don't want to get hurt
Thugby is a game for people who enjoy hurting others.
Football is a game for strong, ultra-fit super-athletes....

Just to keep the thugby trolls that come on here bagging the shit out of Australian Football on their toes

Last night at Telstra Stadium two Sydney based teams played in front of a paltry 12,000 that leaves about 73,000 EMPTY seats makes you wonder why they try so hard to look second rate!

Even the Foxtel TV directors for once couldnt hide the fact that the stadium was empty.:D

Also you have to remember that only afew weeks ago a AFL match with only 1 Sydney team managed to attract a crowd of 60,000. Admittedly there were about 10,00 extra people due to the breast cancer event but that is still nearly 40,000 more people attending a AFL match compared to the NRL match.

That's actually an excellent crowd, for Ugly League at Telstra. They've actually had reported crowds of 7-8000 at the venue, and people there have said they've fudged the figures, saying there was actually no more than 4-5000, at a stadium that sits 85,000! Now that's funny!!!

NRL definitely.

AFL turning into soccer. Players constantly diving and collapsing like they've
been shot, but then soccer is a big world sport and maybe AFL are heading that way.

Idiotic statement.

Name one player in the Australian soccer A-league that has rolled over or collapsed in the last two years since the A-league begun? Go back even further if you like.

Can you name just one?

Ok. Name one player in the whole of the English Premiership that collapsed and rolled over, in the past three years. name the player and the game.

You can't.

Soccer is skill. The soccer crowds crap all over AFL when there are two games on in the same city (Compare Sydney Swans vs Socceroos in June).

You want to compare, then be prepared to back up your statements.

One is played on the eastern sea board mainly in 2 states while the other is our national code with TV rights worth over $700 million

Don't get me wrong. I love AFL, NRL, Basketball and even Soccer when it is played properly.

Nothing wrong with appreciating different codes.

AFL is number one in terms of all round skill and entertainment.

But the times they are a changing.

What I detest is the diving and acting in the round ball code.

The point I am making is that for a lot of years, AFL people have laughed at
the soccer 'softies'. Well guess what, it is now quite common in AFL.
That leaves rugby as the real hard sport.

Big deal, NFL gridiron is played in the great US of A and watched by billions of viewers every day and is worth thrillions of dollars, but frankly, I'd rather watch grass grow.

The good thing about NRL is that their administration sometimes listens to the fans. After the Superleague fiasco they pay more attention to the fans issues these days. At the start of the year they brought in a new rule that did not go down well with players, coaches, commentators fans etc.. so what did they do. They removed it. What does the AFL do with the hands in the back rule... badger us to death with it.
