We were going to have to move at some point anyway, our lease on what is left of West Lakes is not eternal, might as well move when a good opportunity comes along.

Where is the team (AFL and AFLW) going to train?

The oval training area should be part of the negotiations.

On the big oval next to the office building with the adjustable boundary lines and goal posts, that will also be a community space and a ground where Blackfriars play.

So, like Sturt at Unley oval?

Why couldn’t the AFLW have games there?

Because there won't be a grandstand, corporate, or media facilities, it's just a training ground with some change rooms.

So we will not become a real club. We will just be a bunch of teams.

This move has to be about making us a club and bring everyone together under 1 umbrella.

I'm not sure I understand what you're talking about. The AFC is planning to build a new HQ that will feature the latest in management and training trends, along with purpose built facilities for the AFLW side, and a facility for umpire education and training, but a sizable portion of the facility will remain shared use with the local community due to its location in the Adelaide Parklands. It'll have a larger footprint than the old place, and will hopefully be designed in a way that makes future expansion/modification/adjustments easy.

Neither the men, the SANFL, nor the women will play games there, because it's only a training facility.

Right now, their is a massive divide between the club (players and administration) and supporters.

That divide needs to become one and a move to the aquatic centre would be a great chance to narrow that divide. Doesn’t look like it will.

Love or hate Port Adelaide, the club has a fantastic relationship with their members. We don’t. It’ them and us at an arms length.

I've never visited West Lakes outside of game day, and I don't ever plan to visit the new facility at all, even on game day. I fail to see the need for the facility to cater to the members beyond what is already being mandated by the ACC as the price for renting a piece of the parklands.

The only reason there would be a crisis in Womens Footy would be that Adelaide dominated the league early this year and the Victorian teams generally struggled.

If it were the other way around things would be going just peachy.
Well, we are down the two gun buckets in Philips and Scheer, but they might get back.

But we get Wallace back right?

We're still going to be the best team by a streak, maybe a bit less dominant, but still right up there.

Fingers crossed. I'm hoping we'll still be the best team but we might actually be beatable this year due to the fact we are missing the Erin Phillips Class.

Unless she comes back of course.

You never know in football, I guess.

We still have Randall! The crows women's team has about 5 players that are in that "class above". The other teams have one or two at the most.
In addition the next group of players are all very good, no obvious weak players. And we found Ponter out of nowhere last year. Wallace back (she's in the class above). The other teams all have talent spread/moved to other local teams - we do not, yet.
Strangely we're also very well coached.

We should remain bullish this year.

It's easy to forget that we were fairly average in 2018. The improvement from 2018 to 2019 was immense. If we can improve that much in one season, so can any other club.

We'll need to keep improving to stay ahead of the wave. Fortunately we were so far ahead this year that we've got a big headstart. We should be bullish about 2020 at least.

Interesting that the u-18 AA captain has nominated for the Melbourne Metro area and not her native Geelong. This is in response to her higher education studies which will be in Melbourne next year. Geelong are a separate nomination area, like we are.

The Western Bulldogs have named Nathan Burke as their coach for the next two seasons.

Pretty crazy to think that the first two premiership coaches were replaced a year later. Did the Bulldogs coach quit or get fired?

He resigned to return to work in the Education sector and due in part to starting a family with his wife recently and knowing that the time involved in coaching would take him away from his family more than he would like.
