this rigged draw is a farce

AFL obviously set it up so the good team vs the good teams to try and even out the competition but now that we dropped off a bit, we are way lower than we should be

Realistically we probably sitting in 9th or 10th but we are all the way down at 17th, its pretty wild actually
We will best hawthorn and Swans in the next weeks and end up 12th.

Yep and the bonus for finishing that low?

nothing

We still end up above WCE lol

Maybe if they continue with a short season next year we end up getting a gifted draw? would actually like to finish as low as possible just for that reason, tank the hawks game lol

Ugly day down there today, thank god it's close to the Norfolk and I managed to get a few under my belt to mellow me out before posting.
I could do a twelve paragraph diatribe or one sentence. I'll chose one sentence. The coach is either clueless or has lost the players, either way he has to GTFO

It will take a fair bit of driving backwards from the sports journalists after they all lined up to take a whack at the guy suggesting the quality of AFLW product wasn't that good - because Fremantle's issues are entirely based in skill errors and executing basics of the game.

The coaching course for defending the dropping of uncontested marks, fumbling loose balls in space, handballing to grass or direct to the advantage of the opposition is to put more bodies around the ball.

"Lack of skills" argument is like a zombie post that bobs up every time there's a loss or hard times. It kinda looks like it's got some life but really it just mills around cluelessly malignant and hoping to get some brains.

When will this team/Cooper get criticism from the WA media for this year’s performance???

1. It's AFLW, so it's rare to get criticism.

2. I have a feeling interest in Freo AFLW this season dropped off a cliff.

With that said I also imagine Cooper has credits in the bank and the excuse of an injury crisis, so I'd expect him to be able to go round again.

What do you hope to achieve with criticism? What value do you think it will serve?

There's quite possibly some things that might get looked at regarding preparation into the season. Not sure what you'd do with them if there are any, given the unprecedented circumstances between seasons is unlikely to be repeated.

But we've been effectively strangled out of a couple of drafts in a row, been raided with no compensation and then been hit by injury to add insult. We were down to the train-ons on the weekend ffs. Miller is playing hampered too. We've always played a youngish team, but the personnel shortages have probably hit breaking strain and it doesn't help every week there's multiple players being added to the injury list which makes it difficult to get some continuity.

We've actually gone pretty well the previous 3 weeks, all things considered. Given the thinning of the playing stocks it's pretty understandable it's hard to string 4 qtrs together.

This!!!!!!! We have been screwed over massively.

And yet anyone with eyes and a functioning brain can see that the issues of our susceptibility to pressure are because the ground balls are fumbled, the uncontested marks are dropped and the kicks and handballs miss stifle the ball movement. Most of the meters gained are as a result of running the ball before kicking long, go figure.

This issue will resolve itself within the competition over the course of the next decade as more girls who spent their childhoods imitating their AFLW heroes come into the system - less ending up in netball, soccer, cricket, basketball is a big one.

We are feeling the pinch here because we haven't had access to those high talent players for a while.

Maybe discussing this can lead to more focus on it immediately at the draft, from both FFC and AFL, and longer term into ball skills in junior girls football.

The pool is much smaller, little boys are far more into exploring the physical world and finding out about themselves - hitting things and throwing things and kicking things, than girls are - that's just how it is.

Girls find their way to sitting and playing and boys try and kill themselves climbing anything and everything before falling off them onto tiled floors.

I think dads are key, girls will like boring mindless stuff if it allows them to spend time with their dads. If dads are playing soccer with their daughters at the park they are going to be better prepared for a career in sports if that's where they want to go.

Criticism creates accountability. No one is holding this team accountable for the past few seasons with it’s inability to beat the good teams, now we struggle to beat any team.

Goalless in 2 games. 1 win for season. Yeah just blame it all on injuries.

Your OP is right with a lot of what you say. Skill execution is the key point, watching the games across the AFLW all teams have their own issues with skill execution. Of course skill execution encompasses decision-making, confidence, clarity of mind etc. This will come with time and development, but decision-making is the area the coaches can have the most immediate impact. Hopefully, this season can be a real learning opportunity. A couple of extra games would be nice, hoping the injury toll eases up of course, but it is what it is.

This is the first season, first year, where girls can have a proper career level money expectation. It's going to take five years to filter through.

There wasn't the sort of money to afford me the life I wanted in sport when I was in high school - this is year one of that being different.

Onwards and upwards from here, we just need to stick with it and not be afraid to discuss the problems.

Not sure it does create accountability as much as emotional noise that obscures. Tends to be set down standard over-simplifications and what going to get maximum emotional response, rather than accurately addressing issues.

Likewise we could get into a game of over-simplifying strawman each others arguments..."so you don't think injuries are a factor at all?"...but of course there are a number of possible factors. Personnel is one of the major ones, do you disagree?

Was going to come in with a response to this, but I see that, for possibly the first time in online discussion forum history, the discussion and debate that has followed seems to have resulted in the development of a more nuanced, less antagonistic account of the complexities of the situation.

Can anyone tell me how I report a board malfunction to the people in charge?

Miller was just making up the numbers yesterday. She wasn't running from contest to contest or covering the km's around the ground we're used to seeing from her. Even when she was in the vicinity of a contest she didn't run over to it. Either she was keeping a position in the forward half or was carrying some injury - though she did contest the last ball up in the centre. Couldn't work it out. Maybe her role was starting in the middle and going forward. There were times in the game where we had both Tighe and Strom on the ball and Miller as a forward. Wouldn't be surprised if she put her hand up to play underdone just because she's captain and there was noone else in the squad to call on.

Awful season. Started in pre-season with injuries. Continued through.
Competitiveness is there but fades and the polish is well off.
Get well next 2 rounds, and re-load for 2023.
I would be tanking.

Anybody with an injury concern should get a rest for the season.

Get ahead of West Coast in the draft.
