I didn't expect Papley to be back before finals!

Genuine touch and go as to whether we risk him or not. I suppose the worry is that bringing both him and McInerney back after two months in a key final could really hurt us so I'd be open to playing him against Adelaide, perhaps as the sub.

Resting players is an interesting one. Remember the bye before the finals, so it's two weeks off. Is that enough to lose touch?
I think for guys that have played every game it isn't the worst idea e.g. Grundy/Hayward as those two we also have no AFL quality back up but for others e.g. Heeney i don't think you should rest them maybe just shift them out of the firing line

I think it's more a question of "do they look sore or not". Like Grundy and Hayward clearly aren't 100%, so giving them time to freshen up would help.

Funny game. Rather gouge my eyes out than watch that first half again, 2nd half however was the closest we've looked to our best in a loooong time....granted the opposition wasn't much.

  • Defence had been shocking but with Melican, Mills and Rampe down there it held up under a lot of pressure. Not sold on McCartin's form looks off, but Blakey's best game in ages. Melican & Rampe must stay fit if we're doing anything this year
  • Jordon was fantastic shutting Merrett down, crucial when we were bad.
  • Heeney, Florent & Parker really changed the game in the third. Said many times I don't know who I'd back taking a real pressure set shot, but Parker is one.
  • McDonald was decent all day. Amartey and McLean shocking early, good 2nd half. Everything flows from our pressure game, need to be able to bring it for longer
  • Made it harder than it needed to be after 3 games clear but if you said preseason we'd be guaranteed top 2 going into the last game you'd be pretty stoked (Pity about 112 though, if it wasn't for that I'd be very bullish).
  • Hopefully that's the turnaround. Tricky next week, we need to build some continuity and form...but there's definitely a few that could benefit from a fortnight off....need to give Grundy the time off to get him cherry ripe, getting him fit and firing is a game changer for us. Hayward looks sore too, but at the same time need to build synergy back ahead of the ball.

Can we turn Campbell into a Isaac Smith?

Blakey looked better with the extra KPD in the backline which was good. Still had 1-2 shockers but they weren't crucial stuffups like in previous weeks

Him being subbed may be a sign. Warner C was dumped after being sub.
His turnovers are a concern. He has to be close to being dropped.
Like the trade has been a net positive for the season but i think we need to give someone else a go because idk if he can turn it around for finals. Would rather try someone else e.g. Cleary in the same role than continue with Adams

Like Cleary.

Glad to see Florent and Hayward and Campbell playing well. Super important that group stands up.

Preferring McLean in the ruck over Grundy right now, especially with Parker in there.

Mills is building.

Feel much more confident with Melican and Rampe in defence.

Blakey and Gulden solid without being outstanding.

Accurate kicking wins games.

Yep it sure does. Accurate kicking build confidence and pressure. Both of which has been sorely lacking over the past month.
