We might end up with 4 top 20 picks, 3 picks between 22-38. Which isn't bad, seeing were a going through a rebuilding phase.

Some possibilities (probaly wont happen)-

Aker for 1st Rd or 2nd Round(if Brisbane play hardball, they might get 1st Rd, very doubtful though)

Ash McGrath to Freo for 1st Rounder
OR
Ash McGrath to West Coast for 1st Rounder

Mal Michael to Carlton for pick 19.

Moody to Freo for 2nd Rounder.

!!!

For the lot under scrutiny, Bradshaw apart, I'd trade the lot away without blinking my eyes, if we can end up with those picks.

I don't think we'll get that many high pocks to be honest. Given the strength of this year's draft, I see most trades involving player swaps with some later picks thrown in to balance the deals. I don't see us getting more than 4 picks in the top 30, but even then, that's a fairly strong position for this draft.

with all this about 2 kpp possibly leaving.....why did they tell a certain player at seasons end, we dont have a spot for you on the senior list next season? would make a lot of sense to have hung onto him now with all the goings on......thoughts? i know the jury is split on this one but does not look like a great move to do it so early, was there more to it?

He may mean Pask?

If the club cut him that early, we can only interpret that as saying "sorry mate, we just don't think you're going to be good enough for us", regardless of other personnel changes.

Or the club was on booze when it made the decision.

Well it was on mad monday, so who knows......

Gee BigFooty is not for the faint hearted - so much panic.

I remember in 2000 Adam Heuskes (who we had traded pick 5 for in 98) suddenly retired, and I felt that this would leave a hole in our defence, but the club moved on.

It has been a tough year this year and it wouldn't surprise me if all this Aker stuff has been very hard for the players. But we will get rid of all that crap next year, and we will still be left with a lot of quality players, even if some do leave.

In some ways it is good to have a bit of a cleanout to help the rebuilding process. We are finding out who is dedicated to the Lions and these are the players that we know we will be able to rely on in the future.

Rebuilding is always accompanied by painful times, but there is hope that our lean trot won't be the the longest, since some youngsters seem to have stepped fairly quickly and handled themselves ok.

It's funny. We delayed the development of new players to keep the team together, and now not only have we caught up in terms of introducing new players, but I think we have more young players than what would have been the case if we hadn't won the premierships. Mal, Aker, Voss, Bradshaw, McGrath, Chris Scott, Keating etc may have been more likely to be playing at the Lions next if we hadn't won the premierships and there was still unfinished business.

It just means that our team's "rebuilding phase" and "peaking phase" are very distinct. Many other teams tend to have a more smooth transition between the two.

Although I was still surprised how quickly our performance dropped off at the start of 2005 compared to 2004, when really we had only lost Lynchy, Heart and McCrae.

It really hurts when you have to basically rewrite the team's strategy from "kick it forward and assume Lynch marks" to something more complicated.

So our only strategy was to bomb it long to Lynch? Given how Browny's been going, I don't see why we couldn't have done "bomb it long to Browny".

Intentional or not?

I remember when Ash got dropped for the 2002 Granny he made comments that he was unhappy with the decision. It didn't impress me much as he was the new kid on the block and didn't deserve automatic inclusion and still doesn't. He is too inconsistent and only plays well in winning teams. So if he goes, well thats o.k. unless he has a change of attitude and does the hard yards.

Ash has supposivly wanted this for some time....I guess now that the lions are in the bottom 8 there is no risks in missing out on anything. Though Iknow he does want to go home and so does his brother Corey. I have heard Corey wants to transfer into the WAFL from the VFL.

Ash has supposedly wanted this but then you know that he wants to go but have only heard that Corey wants to? Thanks Hammo. Enough with the speculation and rumours.

Given that Cory played 20 games for Carlton in the AFL this year I fail to see what the VFL/WAFL have to do with it.
Given this it makes it impossible to take what you may have heard with any realism at all.
