I don’t have understand why he would have been protected for so long though.

But the SMH reports that the encrypted social media chatroom called 'Restoring Your Liberal Party' was running hot with outraged commentary:

But from a distance, she shot off warnings to anyone in the group chat who commented on the charges:

Sadly I'm not convinced this will make it through to a trial. He's eighty three with the best lawyers money can buy who'll do everything they can to drag this out.

Maybe not, but as long as his name is dragged through kilometres of mud, and any shred of a reputation he has left is completely destroyed. Any hopefully several of his high profile associates with him.

I'm completely sick and tired of these f***ers getting away with this. Whether Pell actually committed any acts or not, he shared a house with Ridsdale for years. At the very least he KNEW exactly what Ridsdale was doing, and protected and enabled him at the cost of many lives, in Ballarat alone, where I live, and know families of victims. Pell is reviled by many in Ballarat who know he went out of his way to protect his mate, and did NOTHING to protect innocent children, lying to their parents' faces repeatedly.

Similarly, Jones could not have perpetrated what he is charged with without the complicity of others to enable and protect him.

I want to see this pr1ck absolutely crucified. And his complicit, enabling co-conspirators.

You don’t understand the power Jones had in Sydney, it wasn’t like Victoria where Dan A had the guts to take on the Herald Sun/3AW.

In Sydney you just kiss the ring of Jones and 2GB to be anointed, even if they then spend hours demonising you.

Also Jones was far far more powerful than any other broadcaster in the country. He had personal access to John Howard and was very in league with the Packers, the Murdochs, Pell, Abbott.

Not even John Laws had that kind of influence.

Sadly I grew up a Catholic, attended a catholic primary school, and catholic secondary boy's school. One of our parish priests was charged years later with repeated abuse of a secondary school age boy while the active priest at the parish (crimes committed outside the parish) and a Christian brother at our school was charged years later with historic offences against male students at schools he'd taught at prior to ours. The priest got off lightly (IMO) compared to his victim. And the brother had dementia by the time he was charged, so persevering with charges was seen as a waste of time... not that I'm tipping his victims saw it that way.

Pretty sure I've stated before on BF, I'm mostly progressive, and for years have been comfortable with the ban on capital punishment in Australia.

As the years have passed though, and the prevalence of historical and contemporary abuse comes to light, against children and women in particular, I'm leaning more and more towards nailing these pr1cks to a wall. And I don't mean figuratively...

If they're found guilty and incarcerated, drop the protection racket of separating them from other prisoners for starters... start with Darcey Freeman's killer.

Oh I have a very similar tale myself about my school sadly. Not me, but guys around me.

I actually found Anne Manne's book quite heartening, in that for once, a lot of justice was done. Like I say, it's a very tough read, but strangely uplifting in the end to see some of these protected, powerful entities go down, and a reminder for all of us to continue to settle for nothing less than justice.

Bringing down Alan Jones and the CFMEU in one year. I don't love Channel Nine but they are streets ahead of whatever Seven and News Corp have been doing lately, paying big bucks to defend alleged war criminals and Canberra sexual abusers.
