The cynicism around Jones’ condition is certainly understandable.

I don’t think it is implausible though.

I saw him going into one of his preferred Italian eateries about a year before the SMH reporting started. His movement and posture was awful then. He was using a cane and was very stout.

If he goes to Court and is convicted of the offences, his physical health can be taken into consideration by the Court in sentencing.

Until then, he has been charged and is awaiting trial.

I would suggest that the DPP would be loathe to enter a nolle prosequi in this matter as it hints of erosion of the independence of the judiciary

Exactly the same is the Higgins case, where right wing "journalists" (media commentators) rush to the defence of an alleged sex offender facing Court.

I wonder when and whether the noted defenders of Jones are going to attack the victims?

The usual suspects in that thread can recycle their defence, nobody saw it so it may not have occured, the victims are only seeking a monetary outcome and their interpretaion of the minutae of the allegations "proves" that reasonable doubt exists

I assume the additional charges are due to changes to the Legislation over the years?

Could the actions that result in a charge of assault with an act of indecency the same as those of aggravated indecent assault?
