Apologies if this has been discussed before - there is no chance I will read a hundred thousand posts about dim sims and rice cookers to check - but there is no chance any announcement can be made before Hawthorn has played their final game this year.
Clarko is being paid by them until the end of this season - providing he does not accept another job. If he does, then Hawthorn does not need to pay him. He is not going to tear up a million (or whatever it is) for any reason.
As a bear that has worn no pants for many years, working with children all of that time, and is still universally beloved, you can take this as a fact.
I am not guessing. I am ITK.

Carry on.
Sounds like bullcrap. If there was anything like that in play, then by getting another gig this week Clarko would have missed out on a small portion of the Hawthorn salary, not the entire year's worth. Not to mention that you can announce the new job, but officially commence it after your previous contract is up. You can even sign a new contract today, as long as the starting date is after the previous end date.

And by the way, who said contracts expire after the last game is played? They would normally have an end date, let's say October/November sometime.

What’s happening this week that won’t be there next week?

Unless this contract with Hawthorn is a thing, I have no idea. Having to wait until next week to finally hear the result might be too much to bear for some of us. I sincerely hope we’re put out of our misery soon. Having said that, if it’s good news, I’m prepared to wait.

Nothing to do but wait and see.

And wonder how you and I joined BF around the same time and I’ve posted 20 times a week on average ever since while you’ve kicked back and done most of your work in the last fortnight.
Doesn’t that say more about you than him ? Lots of us only look in periodically. We know the times to avoid 🙄🙄🙄. KIA may be the greatest troll ever but we have f@ck all to hang our hats on at the moment. Go you good thing KIA. We are hoping you are right. But fear the worst.

Probably already been discussed somewhere, but would anyone entertain the idea of James Hird as our coach?

Supplement scandal aside, I thought he did pretty well with the bombers at the time, and were on track to becoming somewhat decent. He obviously knows the game pretty well.

Would be a great redemption story for him to come to us and succeed. Feel like he definitely deserves a chance.

And i thought i was doing it tough right now...

It isn't how contract law works. He can sign an agreement to commence after the end of a current contract.
Exactly.

Also, it's not an "all or nothing" scenario if he does sign now.

OK, Clarko, you weren't involved in the 2021 trade period, 2022 pre-season or 22 of 23 rounds of the 2022 season but because you signed a contract with North on the eve of round 23, NO MILLION DOLLARS FOR YOU!

I had one psych session followed by a 45 min interval training session, and lo here I am now, thoroughly disappointed to find only 25 pages of unread content awaits me.
Y’all are slipping. For all we know, the only thing preventing Clarko signing a meaty five year commitment to Arden St is the absence of a Clarksonsss thread before the soft deadline is upon us.

Or shouldn’t I ask

It would be very funny if they sacked Rutten and then Clarkson cucked them and picked you lot anyway.

I find it hard to imagine he would find it appealing to go somewhere that has behaved like they have the last 24 hours. When we gave Noble a 2 year deal, it wasn't a coincidence it was only 2 years, we timed to end with Clarkson's contract, we just ended it prematurely because a number of players would have left if he remained. We've been chasing Clarkson since we got sick of Brad Scott but the stars never aligned with contracts, so we made them align.

I'd be disappointed if he went to Essendon but it is what it is. I don't think he would put Rutten through this just to have a laugh at the club.

A few people mentioned Buckley's interview this morning as good listening. I agree. I found it reassuring in the way he would approach the decision. Logical and methodical, dispassionate and considered. Not half the crap people post online or the media carry on with.

If Clarko takes this approach, which from all accounts he is, then we are in this up to our eye balls as many ITK's have said. Time will tell but definitely worth a listen if you are looking for some sanity amongst the hysteria.

Edit.... the only issue will be 28 mins later you'll have 25 pages to catch up on!!
