What advantage would there be in Kennett leaking it?
By shifting blame onto coaches that are longer linked with his club it minimises the damage on his club. He's certainly not going to drop any current member of his club in it. Suddenly the investigations affect two other teams but have minimal impact on Hawthorn's preparations for the 2023 season. Remember that as a wiley old politician he understands the value of the strategic and timely leaking of a story to the media. Doing this allows the Hawthorn FC some degree of control and even manipulation of the narrative from the outset. It's what politicians always do.

Somebody even suggested to me yesterday that the abortion claims fitted Kennett's profile for insensitivity more so than the either of the coaches. Whether there's any veracity to that, that's only pure bar talk and unsubstantiated in any way of course.

It's also being speculated that the unnamed couple are most likely Cyril Riolia and Shannyn Ah Sam.

I can see the families getting draft copies of material relevant to their claims to check for accuracy but they should only have received the parts relevant to them.
I completely agree. They would have to see the written up version of their discussion. Remember, the method of obtaining the information was via yarning. This is a conversational, discussional method as opposed to a question and answer, interview or statement method. I'm sure that it would have been a meandering conversation aimed at each party being able to grow trust and be at ease so that the yarning can flow. The report would contain a massively edited version so the parties involved would have to review what was attributed to them.

But only the parts specifically related to what they said and without recommendations or other conclusions.

He hates Clarko.
Clarko going on the Jeff Kennett world tour for example.

Kennett is still a wily political operator, I can’t see him smearing Clarko knowing that it also smears Hawthorn FC.

Hawthorn is going to come out of it smelling worse than their poo wee colours.

It’s because he’s such a wily operator that I can’t see him leaking it.

Too much risk for it to blow up in Hawthorn’s face and he’d be acutely aware of that.

Satan has a cauldron of scalding oil sitting atop a firey volcanic fissure boiling away in readiness for Jeffrey Gibb Kennet.
It wouldn't surprise me if Jeff gets in first and privatises Hell, selling the rights to operate it for unders to his mates who'll turn it into an exclusive tourist resort open to Victorian Liberal Party members only.

You think? A couple of alternative lines of thought: (1) it's the fallout on North and Brisbane that is occupying the bulk of public commentary (2) the Egan report has with remarkable precision located the events of concern in the period 2010-2016, allowing (3) the report to claim everything is now rosey at Hawthorn, even though (4) the Egan report has not one word to say about the incident which set the review in motion, namely Kennett's behaviour toward Shannyn Ah Sam-Rioli, which occurred in 2018, mysteriously outside the 2010-16 period that the report centres on

I'm looking forward to the review under oath incl. cross examination

Given the process looks pretty slow, we need to start thinking about unstanding Clarko down
It's why I'm interested in the playing group's thoughts.

If they believe Clarkson and are behind him, he should be out there for day 1. They're being punished out of this.

There's another school of thought that the leaks originated from Jeff Kennett.

What advantage would there be in Kennett leaking it?

Would leaking the allegations before Oct 31, be enough for Hawthorn to temporarily withhold Clarko's final payment? Reported circa $450K.

With the aim that enough sticks to withhold it all?

Surely Kennett wouldn't be that single-mindedly vindictive to blow this up just to save $450k?? Suggestion here is Kennett saw an opportunity... and opportunity makes a thief and all that...

Point being, had it remained confidential it would have been paid before anything was released to the public.

He did that to the company my wife worked for. In the first tranche a bunch of engineering staff were made redundant. All got good pay outs and about 80% were signed on as contractors at increased hourly rates.

Jeff apparently went mental and revised the conditions for the second tranche. Those staff were not made redundant, but were interviewed for roles in the privatised state owned enterprise. Those retained were put onto individual contracts and a proportion were made redundant, which my wife wanted.

Turns out by them offering her a job she was unable to take redundancy.

I call that being Jeffed.

As a result I hope that Satan has more integrity and boils the campaigner to the bone.

Agree.

I also raised my eyebrows at the comments that despite all the allegations it is now culturally safe and recently delisted players were glowing in the feedback of their time with Hawthorn.

Clarko has only been gone 1 season. Wouldn’t those players have played under him? Did things get better after 2016?

It wouldn’t surprise me if the club narrative was curated. It would be shocking, but it wouldn’t surprise unfortunately.
