jeez, didnt think Clarko would have me here on a Tuesday evening contemplating the fragility my own mortality but here we are
Having worked for a Funeral Director at one point in my working life, I have heard the poem many times. For those that haven't, its below:

The Dash Poem (By Linda Ellis)
I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on the tombstone
From the beginning...to the end

He noted that first came the date of birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years

For that dash represents all the time
That they spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved them
Know what that little line is worth

For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars...the house...the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So, think about this long and hard.
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile,
Remembering this special dash
Might only last a little while

So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life's actions to rehash...
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent YOUR dash?

It’s the credibility he brings. Noble says the same thing and no one cares. Clarko says it and everyone is all in.
That's certainly a large part of it. He's seen first hand not just how that sacrifice for the 'we' can turn out, but just how quickly and how persistently too. Hell, he didn't just see it, he lived it, drove it.

lol in a few weeks time i'll no longer be in that shaded area so the existentialism hitting hard rn
Well when you find yourself in moments of doubt, ask yourself what did Clarko do that was so great in his twenties.

The answer is not much. He captained a VFL side I guess.

The real shit was yet to come.

(I used to reassure myself the same thing about Leonard Cohen, given he didn't release any music until he was like 33. Pity I still haven't produced a landmark album of critical acclaim, but I guess there's still time, lol).

There was a man on the radio today talking about the young people
Said we should listen to the young people, said they're a victim of conspiracy
The young people, Jesus! What's that supposed to mean?
I never did one damn good thing 'til I was over thirty

Meanwhile…at Tullamarine.

*intense focus by 40 pairs of eyes looking at the white board.

‘So you get your first house. Then what do you do? …Parish?’

‘Move in and, and start a family?’

‘What?! NO! Stringer?!’

‘Uh, uh invite your mates over for Taco Tuesday’s and …’

‘FFS! YOU REFINANCE AND THEN YOU GO AGAIN!’

‘Simples. Right Tudor?’

‘Yeah. Simple’s.’

‘Ok, next thing to go over before the start of the year - has anyone ever heard of the prophecy about ‘tripple towers’ before?’

You can see why Clarko would be happy to see Judas go. Too much about the 'me' than the 'we'.
Definitely. If you aren't fully invested in the group and our goals and standards then **** off.

He still can't get over missing that pass to Plugger.
