Yeah no shit they couldn't tell who he directed it at. I was holding myself back because, hey, maybe he was staring at the umpire dugout or pointed at the ump or tracked him down the field with his eyes or some nonsense. But surprise surprise he wasn't and was just swearing while staring at the contest.

My opinion is that this was 100% a stitch up, probably one of convenience (2 stories in the media about umpiring) and not targeted specifically because of Clarko.

The way that's written, it really comes across like they wanted to pin it on him. Surely, if he hasn't done anything sanctionable, which he hasn't, it should be written more like "the AFL found no evidence the swearing was directed at a specific person or persons...."

The way it's written sounds like they started at a guilty verdict and were then disappointed they couldn't prove it! Witch hunt from the AFL and media!

Could have been 2 days of positive stories about mid year draftees getting a well earned opportunity, but that doesn’t sell as well as drama.

And it’s all about selling. Nothing Morris, Lloyd, Kane or Caro say they really mean - they just mean for it to generate headlines and fill column inches.
