Know a source that that overheard the convo that started the tension:

Ratts: Mortal Kombat on Sega Genesis is the best video game ever.

Clarko: I disagree. It's a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.

Ratts: Donkey Kong sucks.

Clarko: You know something? YOU suck.
They can both **** off, it’s Ocarina of Time.

In hindsight I think this might be down to having a bigger senior list and therefore more AFL listed players able to take part in games. The Suns are probably going to win the VFL flag on the back of their 50 man list.

Very nice, reckon you might've nailed it. It ran counter to our list strength making your theory pretty solid.

The VFL side did seem to bat above its weight.
In the middle of the season the vfl had a legitimately good team sheet, and yes, I rate Lynch as a coach; he has them playing good modern footy and I think the way Ford (as one among others) progressed to seniors fairly seamlessly is reasonable evidence

eh, not everyone's gunna be mates in a work place

Ratts and Clarko have both put up with a lot of s*** this year I tip my hat to them.

Who would honestly be surprised that there are disagreements at the end of this coaching shamozzle?

It's a miracle the whole thing didn't fall apart further during the season and has been handed back again without much fuss.

It's very possible Ratts was of the belief Clarko wouldn't return (despite what he was saying publicly to the media). Perhaps he genuinely believed he'd end up senior coach.

The clean out - on and off the field - continues and there will be more to come.

Clarko 'cleaning house' was always going to happen and is a sign that he is now back to fully functional in a football sense.

With 3 good kids coming in this year - and likewise next year most likely - this will bring us up to 10-12 high end talent types at 25 years and under.

That's the sort of metric when playing lists - who are coached and developed well - start to rapidly rise up the ladder.

Getting in top rated assistant and player development coaches will be just as important as the draft picks we have.

Clarko has alot on his plate to get us out of the hole we are in but is making big strides now.

Altermatively, plenty of people can work together.but also not have a close personal relationship (or even one at all)

There seemed to be a bit of a difference in vision between Ratten and Viney/Brady in the members questionnaire.

Ratten seemed to be more conservative, while the others seemed to like Comben going back and playing small up forward. I believe they referenced the Tigers and suggested Brayden George could play like a 2nd key forward.
