Those that played in that U17 game for WA include:
Busslinger (Wetern Bulldogs)
Elijiah Hewitt (West Coast)
Darcy Jones (GWS)
Daniel Curtin (Adelaide)
Riley Hardeman (North)

Was that Ryan playing for SA? Only watched a little but thought I saw his mullet running around.

The latest rankings have him at 36 (top 100) for the 25 draft, though that can change a fair bit if he performs well in the tournaments.
What rankings are you seeing that have him that high? Not in any Top 100 draft ranking I can see.

He's not even the highest ranked Australian named Alex in this draft class.

ESPN the only place that has mentioned him.
Ah, missed that. Seems wild to have him so high when no other outlet has him inside the Top 100.

History shows that more international players go, and go early than major outlets predict anyway, so it'll be interesting to see if he becomes convinced of his chances.

Based on the timeline he gave, it seems like his intention is to declare for the draft and see if he gets taken.

IF he goes in 2nd Round he is not Guaranteed a NBA Contract

Jonathon Giveny ESPN most recent top 100, this week.

(I take little notice of a wider source of rankings until after MM).

So it sounds like if he is selected after the 2nd round there is no chance? How many selections are there per round?

I'm trying to figure out if he doesn't get picked in, say, the top 50, are we looking good?
There's only 2 rounds. 30 picks a round. 60 players.

The first round get an automatic contract - on big money - enormous money if they get taken early.

The second round negotiate a contract. It'll vary, but roughly picks 31-45 are likely to get a contract. Big money. More than anyone in the AFL gets. 50 - 60 won't, but some of them will get what they call a two way contract where they play for the G League team as well as some games on the bench in the NBA team. They get an ok AFL player money. Then some won't get an NBA contract at all and will play exclusively in a different league - for less than we'd pay him.

No idea what he'd do if he got drafted by someone not offering a contract or if his decision will be financial, but I threw in the money bit as that's what a lot of the discussion has been around.

This is great clarity - thanks sr36.

I've heard that Jonathon knows absolutely nothing about the NBA and even less about the quality of rookie / prospects.
Heard where?
He has covered the draft for ESPN (U.S.) for several years, linking up with a LOT of pro-scouts, so you'd think he'd be fairly clued in.
(He founded Draft Express before joining ESPN in 2017).

Just trying to start a rumour so all the clubs out there will disregard his optimism of Condon.

ESPN is the only outlet thats mentioned him, so are they right and everyone else wrong or vice versa.
Though this one has him at 59. Which is the last pick in the draft.
In the end, we don't know what clubs are thinking, given this draft has a lot of depth.
Correct, in the end we don't know what clubs are thinking... But we can either speculate (which is largely what this entire forum is) or not comment or think about it at all. I enjoy the speculating.

Okay, another question from me as an NBA dummy....

What stats should we be looking for from Condon that suggests he is looking more likely to get drafted? E.g. double figures of rebounds and points or more is likely, but under that is not likely? I know it's hard to predict, but any high level guesses so us dummies can interpret his stats in this context?

Sometimes stats don't matter it what Scouts think how good can he get
