Okay, another question from me as an NBA dummy....

What stats should we be looking for from Condon that suggests he is looking more likely to get drafted? E.g. double figures of rebounds and points or more is likely, but under that is not likely? I know it's hard to predict, but any high level guesses so us dummies can interpret his stats in this context?

Sometimes you get a Dereck Lively who went 12th overall in 2023 and is one of the most promising young defensive bigs in the NBA, who put up terrible college numbers (5 points, 5 rebounds). It was all about IQ and athleticism with him though. Condon has better numbers than Lively did (not defensively), but will potentially not be drafted, because you cannot project him the same way you could someone like Lively despite the stats.

There is a Real Chance he might get Drafted in the 2nd Round

I don't see it with his numbers and most rankings don't have him in the top 100 prospects (only 60 drafted)

The danger could be that he is convinced to spend another year in college to enhance his chances. Either way it's his choice, his life and whatever he chooses I hope it works out for him.

What i mean is he will never even come to Collingwood

This bloke can make money in many basketball leagues around the world and live a great lifestyle

Btw I do wear glasses lol
He could, if that was his intent. But given he's signed a cat b contract -- It's clearly not his intent. Its one of two options for him, and always has been.
1. To get drafted into the nba
2. if not, come home and transition back into footy.

The most important part of that is that we have lodged the cat b papers

Yep. All that matters.

The rest of it reads like the usual anti Collingwood stuff eg we have no chance he ever lands here.

He might or he might not but that article won’t have any say in the matter.

I can’t remember where I read it, but it’s NBA or AFL for Condon.

He's not interested in playing in the G League, in the Euro leagues, or any other basketball leagues bar the NBA.

You don’t sign an AFL contract if you intend to play basketball in national leagues around the world after not getting in to the NBA. What you’re saying has no basis in any sound logic.

Even if he was drafted to the nba. Say at the end of the draft theres no guarantee he will even get to that citys team that drafted him. Look up luke travers. Drafted by cleveland with the last pick of the draft. Was stashed back in perth. Then was cut. Condon may get drafted but he may not earn a contract and decide to come home after a year. So theres still hope even if hes drafted.

When he comes to us, hopefully he doesn't refuse to start in the VFL.

Jalen Williams is another good example. Played college ball for Santa Clara, averaging 12 points a game. Now he's averaging 21 per game and is an outstanding partner in crime for SGA at the Thunder.

It's weird hoping that a person's career choice fails in order to benefit us, except for every Carlton and Essendon player of course.
There's been a heap of Carlton and Essendon players and admin over the last decade whom I'm glad have had their career choice not fail with them maintaining employment at the club.
