We will be offering our 2nd rounder for Peatling as we have a good trading relationship with them. You guys can have our F2 as you expect us to be shit again so it will be around pick 24, just like when you traded us your F2 as you expected this would have been pick 32-34.

a future 2 is in a worse draft and you lose a 1 year of development. You could be right though. but it's way unders.

Fairly certain it’s already agreed to prior to Peatling. Any backtracking now is just poor form by Adelaide list management.

I don't think anything is agreed yet.
There's probably a deal in place with ANB and his management but I don't think there would be a solid deal with Melbourne yet.
In saying that - I think GWS will want the F2. I don't think another pick in this draft is their priority.
Giants already have 4 picks within the first two rounds. Unlikely to be overly worried about another TBH. Crowd second which is currently 28 will get the ANB trade done. The pick will be in the 30s anyway.
I hate it when people say pick x becomes pick y.
The academy and father/son might change the number of the pick but it doesn't change the available player pool, it's still the same as it would've been.

It’s not a nothing argument though. Because that pick holds a prescribed value. What if Melbourne want to on trade it to a team that requires points?
I was thinking similar. The FA picks impact far more. But the points factor can come into it for sure.

The free agents compensation is the issue.
See that is a fair argument but 99 percent of people use academy and F/S.

Gather GWS prefer future picks, so F2 for Peatling I expect.

Its looking like GWS will prefer our f2 for Peatling as they are stacked for picks in this draft. Now that we only have 2 open spots (at this stage), they may well give pick 26 or whatever it is because 4 is quarantined for a top mid at the draft and our other pick 42 or whatever that is will be used to take Welsh and thats it for list spots. So as much as we'd all like to use pick 26 at the draft, we simply don't have the list spots

I have come round to not worrying too much as it looks like f2 for peatling as giants are overloaded for picks this year and then pick 28 for ANB as i thought it may have needed to be the other way around initially. Remember unless something happens we are not aware of, we have 2 list spots..pick 4 and welsh (pick 42 or whatever it is). If welsh has not been bid on at 42, we might try to trade it for a later pick and a future pick for welsh.
Retaining our F1 and getting all our targets is a big win imo

He almost won our Bnf. that's a pretty good role player.
Adelaide lost a lot of credibility when the fans wanted a 2nd rounder for Shane McAdam. So I wouldn't be listening to Adelaide when it comes to assessing talent. Fast forward 1 year, Adelaide will hand over Pick 28, something that should never have been in your hands and it'll still be a massive net loss for the dees. Essentially losing ANB for McAdam. So a guy that almost wins our BnF for a guy that isn't AFL standard.

Sounds like an us problem more than anything. Whether or not we overpaid for McAdam isn't really relevant.
