Watson is as close to a lock as there could be so far this season.

As usual crows players have been under rated here. Rutten has been sensational and easily the best full back so far this year. And Scotty Thompson has also been dominant and sitting like 2nd in overall stats in the comp.

Why dont you guys start watching some other games other than what you see in Victoria. remember its the AFL not the VFL.

Think Scott Thompson's close to the most under rated player in the competition but there's been a few good FBs to this stage. From my club, Jamison has been phenomenal - scarcely been beaten one on one and rebounding brilliantly.

Can't ignore Ted Richards anymore. Reputation counts against him and I'm sure plenty will read this and think wtf? but he has been outstanding this season. In our best few in 4 out of the 6 games. Solid in the other two. Not saying he is a definite for the team but he is squad material.

Gibson was good again last night as well. Plenty of defenders putting their hand up now. Morris was another good today.

Also Goodes and Griffen were very good. Boyd solid. Murphy was dangerous but not as good as previous weeks. Played up forward a fair bit.

Gibson might be worth a cheeky nibble for a back pocket this year. Without him the Hawks 'ordinary' defence would be looking far more vulnerable.

Mitchell carrying the midfield at the moment, perrenially underrated.

Would Jake King get a look in? I know the half forward flank is obviously slang for 'extra midfielders' but as a defensive forward he's been excellent.

FFS don't tell me Enright is just going to walk into the team again. Got the be the worst 3 time All-Australian.

What sort of a statement is that? Would he be one of the best 2-time All-Australians if he had failed to win a third? Or is he, in your mind, lucky to have won even one?

Enright would probably be pushing now to be the best half back flanker we have ever had at the club. A B&F winner in a premiership year. Remarkably consistent performer who has the ability to not only shut down a player but provide run and attack from defence. I would have thought he would have been one of the best HBF's of the past 10-15 years and possibly a lot longer.

If he wins another AA then you would have a hard task arguing with any of the above.

Ted Richards has been in outstanding form so far this year. It may be responded to with lol's from most non-Swans fans, but if they were picking an AA squad right now, he'd have to be there IMO. As a genuine defender, he has barely been beaten in 2011.

Mumford and Goodes probably the only other Swans who have been consistent enough to warrant selection in such a squad. Perhaps Benny McGlynn but he is competing with a lot of really good HFF's so maybe not. Guys like Jude, Kennedy, ROK and Jack have each played about 3 very good games and had 2 or 3 quiet ones. Not enough for AA selection.

EDIT: Didn't see AG talking Teddy up on previous page. Sorry for the double post...essentially what AG and I do on all things Swans.

AA is a load of shit. If your a good player in a crap side you get no mention. ITs heavily weighted upon Melbourne sides. Scott Thompson from Adelaides been playing as good as anyone this seasons, bet he doesn't get a mention.

Certainty? He's played 4 games so far only and been solid, hardly a certainty. He's in the mix with about 6 others.

He is a certainty on exposed form until now, but it's a long season.

He has been fantastic. 2 goals conceded in 4 games, and he's played against Cloke, Dawes, Tippet, Walker, McKernan, Ryder etc. etc.

He isn't though. Rutten and Merrett have been too good, so he isn't a standout. Nearly impossible to have a certainty this early in the season. If anyone is it's Watson, Pendlebury, Cox and Shaw. Even then we had a poster not pick Watson, so it's going too far to say Jamison is a certainty.

If you look back at the history of AA selections you will realise that non-Victorian teams have had a very good, even over representation. Maybe the fact of the top 8 teams atm 6 are Victorian may have something to do with the fact that a lot of players from Victorian teams are getting a mention so far.

Embley had a horrible game today. 2010 form returned for today at least.

If you had a midfield "ladder" of sorts where the first 6 or 7 are AA what would it be right now?

1. Pendlebury
2. Watson
3. Judd
4. Mundy
5. Swan
6. Moloney
7. Boyd
8. Bartel
9. Pavlich
10. Selwood
11. Mitchell
12. Priddis
