Whether or not it was a work to begin with, they’re all businessmen. TK was probably right in saying conflict isn’t a bad thing, cos this is ****ing money if they can put the bullshit aside and work together.

BUT, that's it's own argument. SHOULD Punk be reprimanded so heavily considering he started this particular incident with his comments? Or will they focus on the overall numbers and take into consideration that Hangman and by extension the Bucks may have at fault months ago when Page went off script on live television?

I have to admit, as a Punk fan for 15 years, I can't imagine remaining heavily invested in AEW if he leaves and The Elite are a central part of the promotion every week.

The trios final was a great match, but Kenny staring into the camera telling everybody backstage 'that's the standard' (or words to that effect) was pretty embarrassing. Even they must know their style isn't for everybody. I certainly enjoyed the tag team title match more which was classic pro wrestling by comparison.

Punk should definitely be reprimanded if this is all legit, I do think its worth trying to save but Punk has to learn not to be such a douche all the time in public even if his concerns are legit. While he thinks he is the top dog and he probably is in AEW his position isn't that strong if he ever wants to make big dollars, WWE won't want the shit that comes with taking him back and no one else will come close to what WWE and AEW will pay.

That being said The Elite should also be reprimanded. IF they did leak, they should be heavily for that and I would say stripped of EVP titles. Also, even though Punks comments were shit if it went down as we have heard and they were waiting for him in his locker room with Ace's wife and Punks dog also there that is unacceptable and was only going to go down physically and thats on them even if they didn't come out on top of the exchange. In their position they should be the ones taking the higher ground, letting things cool off and have a meeting with Punk, TK and whoever else.

The Bucks I find are becoming very polarizing and reminded me a lot of what you had with Cody, a lot of the non big indy fans who came to AEW have not really warmed to them and just see them as spot monkeys who use their influence to book themselves ahead of others. The fans of theirs pre AEW still love them obviously and they had a big part of getting AEW to where is but I think the way they are that Punk won't be the last star to take issue with them.

I don't want to s**t on Tony, he's a fan and he's heart is in the right place, but he really needs to be a strong leader and not be everyone's friend if he's taking on the roles he has.

I get the feeling those comments were as much for the Elite as they were forcing Tony to pull people up.

Absolutely agree and saw Bichoff was saying it's stuff like this he let go in WCW like TK has and wished he didn't. I think he needs a clear number 2 who has as much authority as he has and isn't scared to piss people off like TK seems to be. I don't know who that could be and don't think you want them to be a wrestler. It's a shame Jericho turned down the EVP as I think he would have been a lot better in the role than Bucks, Omega and Cody. Jericho's history of standing up to dicks even they're Brock seems to end stuff a lot quicker than this new leak everything to Meltzer passive aggressive stuff from some.

I see Jericho as the only one who has the gravitas to sort this out, Tony's not going to be able to do it. I understand Punk's frustrations with Page going into business for himself and the Bucks leaking constantly and personally, if it's a choice between him and The Elite then I go with Punk. He is money in a way that Kenny and the Bucks simply are not and never will be. I'm still shitty that the Bucks wouldn't put over FTR and drop the belts to them - FTR are totally over off their own bat through the quality of their work, put all the belts on them and make the gimmick complete FFS. And then Kenny leaves them out of the video game? Pathetic. If the heat on Punk within the company is such that his position is untenable and he has to go then at least they have the situation set up now to put the belt on MJF. He's THE guy and whatever Tony's going to save on paying Punk, he can tip into the mega contract offer he must make to keep MJF.

Either way, I hope they can find a way to sort all this shit out because with this real-life heat there's clearly money to be drawn here if everyone can put their pride to one side long enough to do so.

I’m backing Kenny and the Bucks every day of the week here, they are younger and a main reason why this company was created.

It was a different alternative to WWE and if you lost the Elite crew you lose the fabric of the company in the first place. Let’s be real Punk won’t be a long term anyway he came back got his pop made a few bucks he doesn’t have to achieve anything and history is starting to show he’s been a bit of a cancer rightly or wrongly wherever he has been.

Keep the Elite and keep building these stars like MJF and Wardlow. Punk is the short term sugar hit.

Damn. Beat me to it.

Me too :(

Just on the second in command type thing - I think Christopher Daniels is supposed to be one of the people performing that role, cos everyone respects him. Maybe he just doesn’t have enough power, or maybe he needs to do something to exercise power.

It was the criticism when it started, that it was all friends wrestling. As far as the public knows there’s no headkicker there from outside the wrestling industry, it’s just people that are friends with the Bucks. I suspect that’s what they need,

Dynamites ratings went back up over a million as soon as Punk returned a few weeks ago.

He gets the biggest reactions. His matches have the most crowd involvement and he feels like THE star of the show whenever he is on screen.

If he goes and Kenny/The Bucks stay a central part of the show it's going to affect their business. I don't believe there is any disputing that.

Agree with this 100%

Doesn't have to be a wrestler. Put a jerry Lynn or a Dean malenko he'll put arn In that spot. If there not going to be listened too than know one is

Thing is, wouldn't Omega and the Bucks be higher in the company structure than Daniels? So he might be the one who is supposed to put out disagreements and fires but the others are pulling rank on him?

I think that’s the problem when you have current talent, as EVP’s. I think There were similar issues regarding Dusty Rhodes as a booker in his NWA/WCW years.

Things need to be sorted out between the 2 parties. They really need William Regal, or Jericho to try and step up a bit, and sort some of the crap out.

It would not surprise me if that was a part of the reason of Cody leaving was the Elite.

Cody did cut a promo on Punk not long before he left didn't he that seemed a bit like there was more to it? Came across like the direction he thought AEW was going changed when they signed up Punk?

In a bit of a coincidence, I just had a wrestling figure turn up in the mail.

I have to imagine that if he were still around, Mr Brodie would’ve looked after his (Dark Order) boys. I can’t get this image out of my head of Mr Brodie stomping into the scrum and beating the shit out of Punk

It does feed into an amazing storyline. You don’t fire him, you have him continue to be a completely unprofessional shitbag while publicly and “privately” (ie dirt sheet leaks) TK continues to defend the absolute indefensible.

All the while you’ve got TK also going “nah, you ain’t worth it Maxwell, you’re too expensive, too much trouble, the stuff with Stokely was bullshit, **** off.”

By the end of the year it’s Stone Cold vs (ironically!) Triple H w/ Vince. (Remember his shoot with Joe when he’s sarcastically going “oh I’m triple h! I need the belt!” He became what he hated!)

Mixed reports saying Punk has injured triceps/biceps in the match to so potentially will be having time off regardless

I’m not too sure about a promo. I know that Cody and Punk had an issue of texts before Punk started. Think Cody texted Punk to see if he would be interested when they first started. There were also a lot of reports of Cody clashing with the YB and Kenny.

Or is it possible that he injured his biceps/triceps while jerking himself off and muttering about million dollar gates?

I tend to disagree with most of this. Respectfully of course.

I love AEW but it wasn't until Punk and Danielson were part of it that I purchased the Fite app to watch every week. Once I started watching regularly I also realised how FTR are the best tag team in the world and it isn't close IMO.

What drew me in at the beginning was the 'sugar hit' of watching Kenny, The Bucks, Sammy Guevara etc flying around having crazy matches. It felt so fresh compared to how stagnant WWE had become. But as time went on I realised there wasn't as much substance to that style and it only has so much longevity.

The style of wrestling you see from Punk, Danielson, Jericho, FTR etc is based on fundamental principles. It will last forever because it always has. If you lose somebody like Punk (who has been proven to move the needle) and focus on the Elite universe I worry AEW won't be a legitimate alternative in 5 years time.

In saying all of this, I absolutely love the buffet style offerings AEW provides. I'm firmly in the camp that believes Punk is THE guy to build it around. It's just unfortunate that it's looking likely that they all can't co-exist long term.

Not saying Punk is innocent in the whole situation, but I'm surprised how many people around here overlooking Kenny and the Bucks part it in it all.

This one?

Yep fair suggestion. Not a fan of the way Jericho is booked and I haven't seen the scrum interview, but apparently he's been praised for bringing a lot discussion back around to positive aspects of the event. (As he should)

I think Cody would have been good but probably has too much history with everyone. No surprise he saw everything coming and jumped when WWE wanted him.

Great post and agree with all of it.

Bucks and Omega are symptomatic of AEW in some ways. They do a LOT of good stuff, it's just that extra 10% of silly shit (IMO...I understand and appreciate that people like it) that they do that brings things down a peg...IMO.

Omega and Danielson last year along with the build up has been my favourite program from either major company. This is coming from someone who loves MJF and loved the Punk/MJF program.
