If Watts leaves, we want to take advantage of losing one of our lesser leaders and one of the people who take no responsibility. We don't want to recruit another one like that!
Yarran has had better seasons but he can at least use the footy but in any case it is all hypothetical at this point.

I'm with Craig on this though, we need a decision.

Is this the bullshit Freo supporters were peddling when you were offering serious unders for Clark?

You only offered a slightly better pick to the Lions. The only thing Melbourne did differently to Freo is come in much later with a bigger pile of money.

Having cooled down after watching Jack's TFS debut I honestly believe that Thursday night was a poor attempt at posturing for a better contract for next year. I'd be very surprised if JW is not at Melbourne in 2014. The only way he will be elsewhere is if the non-incumbent coach decides that trading Jack is one way to bolster our obvious area of weakness, our midfield.

SO basically you expect a team to cough up pick 5-10 for Watts? Or give the demons 2 late 1st round picks for Watts?

I would expect a top 10 pick or a pick 10-20 and a young midfielder , the fact is he isn't worth shit all on performance but being a former number 1 pick he is worth something on potential

Has Craig, as in Neil Craig, come out and said that in public?

Good on him if he has!

Add a decent pick upgrade to us and it wouldn't be the end of the world but we have to push for harder than that or throw him in the PSD.
Yep...I agree. I would hope we get Yarran plus a pick in the 20's . It's a pity because I think Jack will be a very, very good player...but Yarran running off half back, may be better for us.
All the best and good luck to Wattsy.

If watts wants to leave that's ok. However if the club can't get a suitable deal surely he would re-sign. ie Ryan O' Keef situation when he wanted out of swans. Also by this point we will have a new coach.

I'm starting to really think Watts is a lot about what's wrong with our club. I've never heard such a selfish statement from allayed before. Who does he think he is??

Seriously? What's so selfish about what he's done? Don't get me wrong, I'd rather he was fully committed to the club - but it's his career, so he needs to make the right choice for himself (ie. not necessarily the best one for Melbourne).

Don't worry though, I'm sure if Jack leaves the club will instantly create a brilliant culture for itself - we should really tell Sylvia and Jamar to GAGF too.

Pretty sure Freo's first offer was pick 20, you only offered 16 after we offered 12 ... and by then it was too late.

If Adams wants out what do you think would get the deal done?

He's a former 1st round pick and has developed into a quality young big bodied mid. We wouldn't want a draft pick unless we were going to use it as a package to get a ruckman or gorilla defender.

You could probably get him if there was a 3 club deal. Only knock on him is his disposal which can be patchy.

Incorrect. Freo initially offered Brisbane only a second round pick, because 'Freo held all the cards' and he would 'walk to them in the PSD if Brisbane didn't take it'.

You only re-offered your first pick when Melbourne put in their offer - by then it was too late and you looked like massive knobs.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know of or have a link to the Watts interview on TFS?

Missed it and wanna have a look.

I didn't watch it so I don't know where in the show it is, but you can watch the full ep here:

Trust me, you don't want Yarran! The Eagles would probably throw all their chips at him anyway.

I was just reading the AFL website and saw this: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-08-16/no-signature-yet-from-martin

RICHMOND'S push to re-sign midfielder Dustin Martin has hit a roadblock with reports the young star has rejected the Tigers' latest offer.
Martin, who is out of contract at the end of this season, is demanding a fair deal for 2014 and beyond, otherwise he will look at his options, according to The Age.
Now obviously nothing is set in stone, but with the Dees looking at Choco, Dusty having a real crack this year, and the Dees in Prime position to snag a great Mid, Is it too much of a stretch to think we're in with a real shot to get both Choco and then dusty?

It would be a first, that's for sure. We don't have a good track record in trades - and I don't recall us ever getting a top mid from another club.

Yeah when was the last successful trade in we had?
Mitch Clark I guess was a win
Jamie shanahan?
Brent moloney?

In any way I can't see Martin leaving the tigers he obviously has a manager who's good at eeking out cash
