Saw it on YouTube shorts, ripper. That's what modern midfielders look like, dynamic, run & link up and can kick goals on the run from 50 not inside plodders who can't kick.
Yeah rivers is exactly the prototype inside outside blend yet we play him at half back lol

Weird observation from the game:

No behinds scored in the 2nd half of the game. Only the second time in AFL/VFL history that's happened apparantly.

There is plenty stuff we could do to change stuff up that we haven't even tried. To say "oh well, we don't have the list to play that way" is complete bullshit.
What personel do we have and what changes can Goofy do thatvwill all of a sudden turn us into this scoring juggernaut we all want??

I mean, he's been changing s* up all season. Tmac to defence, Windsor to wing, Koz through the middle, Turner and Petty forward, hes brought in Howes to defend, he's tried Laurie, played some kids, had ANB as a tagger, now playing Riv through the middle. Our VFL side is terrible. I hate Goofy as much as the next bloke, but he's been trying different things. What personel do we have and what moves does he make that will make us a scoring powerhouse?

Yep, we can drop Oliver. But who comes into the centre? Sparrow? Lol.

Didn't see the game but Rivers into the middle seemed to go well off reports here. How ****ing long have we been crying out for that? Plenty of other stuff mentioned on here we could do, re smaller forward, Bowey McVee Windsor position changes, get them on ball instead of running with the ****ing same old.

The only changes it seems we have made outside Rivers is Fritsch further up the ground which is absolutely ******ed. ****ing clueless coaching group.

Rivers was unreal in the midfield. His run and carry immediately made us look better, and it was one of the few things about us this year that has been exciting to watch.

No shit we can't play that style of game with Trac, Viney and Oliver starting in the midfield. We played a style that revolved around their strengths of winning heaps of the ball and just pounding inside 50s. But now that Viney and Oliver cant win the ball like they once did and Trac is now done for the year why should we still play it?

Get some guys in there who can at least do some damage by foot or hurt the opposition with pace if you want to improve efficiency. Sparrow is not that answer. As I said McVee, Windsor etc ANB can be the full time mid and leader in there. Viney do whatever with. HFF, more time on the bench, who cares, not the future, don't owe him a lion's share of midfield minutes any longer when the midfield has been performing like they are. As good as TMac has been he is not the future also, get Petty back in the back line and try and build his confidence back up for next year. Forward line should revolve around Fritsch at full forward with McAdam. The only tall in the F50 should be JVR. Pull the pin on Oliver's season, make up some bullshit injury excuse if need be. Play AMW, play Woey on the wing, give Kynan full games ffs, give Tholstrup more midfield minutes rotating with Kozzy. Bowey further up the ground. Plenty of common sense moves that you can play around with rather than going back to the same old shit that has got us progressively worse the past 3 years.

I get where your coming from, I think the damage was done in previous seasons when Bedford and Jordan were stuck as subs all season (now woey). Players at Casey were all on fire and not being rewarded with games (even when they were playing the same game plan for easy integration).

We stagnated, players get disgruntled or lose confidence. We also then probably thought we had players ready for the next step (the ones we didn't lose) but then when they come into seniors you find they are not capable of the step up. They could have found that out earlier or at very least given them a taste and reality check of what is required so they could attack the offseason.

I'm sure it has also impact our ability to attract/poach good young talent from other clubs. Why would they come over the be 7th in line to be the sub for 12 weeks straight...

Nek minuit Brown comes back in to FF and Sparrow and Salem get the midfield minutes with Viney and Fatty

18 of his 21 possessions were kicks, he went at 81%(!) playing as a kick-heavy inside mid, and he had our most metres gained by an absolute mile.

Makes sense that he only got one coaches' vote. Not our brand.

I think we give goody too much credit for playing Windsor round 1. In hindsight he played well in the preseason but hunter was injured and his wing there for the taking anyway so wasn't a BIG move or risk.

I would actually like to see him change up his role. Play him off HbF and use his pace, run and carry to open things up. Make us more dynamic. Help his defensive and 1on1 side.

Play him out of FF for 10 mins. Use his pace on the lead or ability to get up the ground and double back. I see other teams do that all the time. He looks to have good hands and nice kick for goal.

I actually don't mind this take, the wings an absolute dead zone in the way we play now. Shouldn't be for players with talent should be for defensive stodgy campaigners like Salem and Langdon

I’d like to see Windsor attend centre bounces occasionally. I think he can be like Walsh at the Blues . As for the rest , the time for Goodwin to make a statement re selection has long passed. I agree there are plenty of moves that can be tried , if the coach wasn’t stuck in the past .

I agree on McVee and Windsor long term, but neither have the tank or size to make impact this season. Koz looks cooked after a stint in the midfield. That's why his impact forward has been low because he looks spent. There's no moves Goofy can do that's going to all of a sudden make us a scoring powerhouse. McVee, Riv, Sparrow, Koz all need to do a preseason as mids. And clearly we need to bring in the right pieces. As much as I hate Goofy, he's at least tried some things with the pieces he has. He tried a more offensive gameplan and couldn't deliver.

First move would be to sack Goodwin ,but that's not going to happen . I wouldn't have both Petty and Turner in the forward line together . Too late now but i would have given Verrall a game or 2 coming off the bench to relieve max , give him a taste . for me i wouldn't debut a kid as an emergency then wait till 10 min before the end to get him on . Truth is our depth is poor , but every time Jefferson gets some space he kicks goals . Putting him in the senior team now would be a waste of time with how we deliver it into the forward line . You are right about our youth not being built for what they've been asked to do , but enough of bringing in other teams leftovers . The coach needs to decide if we are going to embrace the attacking style and recruit accordingly , and mostly i would drop players who are not performing .

We all want Goofy sacked. This year he's at least tried some things. Not always what we think he should try, but we've played a heap of inexperienced kids(another one in AMW this week), and he's at least tried to invent a new game plan of sorts. Clearly not successful and probably shows his vulnerabilities as a coach.

I think Verrall will get his chance. He's building ok. 2 rucks didn't work last year with Grundy, so i can see why he hasn't done that this year. Gawn will need a rest once our season is officially done. So i can see him getting a game then. Forced upon him, but he's at least tried Riv now as a perma mid. Hoping he puts some run in the legs of McVee, Koz, Sparrow, Windsor, Tholstrup etc in the offseason and rejigs the whole look. Atm most of those guys don't have the tank or the build. No idea wtf to do with the forwardline. While the midfield is a mess, there's no point making the F50 a focus. Doesn't mean we shouldn't be looking at that part of the ground, but the midfield is priority. Running defenders as well. Getting good ball users who can break lines is important.

We are the 5th worst scoring team in the competition, 50 points more than the saints on the season after trying to be an 'attacking' team
There is so much pointing to us falling heavily over the cliff even more than I saw coming.
We might be where West Coast were in 2021. Always something to look forward to…

Agree with all of this. Plus I can't work out why we haven't tried Bowey forward, which is where he played as a junior and he's battling a bit down back. Especially worthwhile with ANB playing more mid time.

I thought he played wing ?

wing and half fwd. i remember reading a story that year, i think it might have been on Draft Central, about who would become the better player, Bowey or Gulden. i guess we lost out on that one.
So close though
