AB was good over an extended period of time, but had none of the natural talent that Sachin, Lara, Vivian or even Ponting Had. If I was to have him in my team, he would be there to captain.

Since when is grit, determination, single-mindedness and concentration not natural ability? Some do it better than others.

Let's just say that he had greater talents in some areas than most other players.

My selections:

Sir Jack Hobbs (Eng)
Gordon Greenidge (WI)
Sir Donald Bradman (Aus-capt)
Allan Border (Aus)
Barry Richards (SAfr)
Sir Richard Hadlee (NZ)
Adam Gilchrist (Aus)
Shane Warne (Aus)
Dennis Lillee (Aus)
Jeff Thomson (Aus)
Glenn McGrath (Aus)

12th: Graham Pollock (SAfr)

Don't know how you could possibly pick a guy who only played 4 test matches (not his fault) when there are so many others to chose from - not even the best Richards of all time.

And Hadlee is batting too high at no. 6

I'll have a crack:

1) Hobbs
2) Sutcliffe (and that's it for England)
3) Bradman (no contest)
4) Ponting (surpised no-one's mentioned him. Seems to me to be absurdly under-rated. Ok, he's mainly played at 3, but if you can average near 60 at 3, 4 should not be a problem)
5) G Chappell, W Hammond, V Richards, N Harvey, D Compton, S Tendulkar, B Lara; you could toss a coin here. Today I'll say Chappell. Tomorrow it could easily be Richards.
6) Imran
7) Gilchrist
8) Marshall
9) Warne
10) Lillee
11) Murali (I know that's controversial - and as the ICC says he's legal I'm going to accept that for the sake of this hypothetical, but his record is phenomenal)
Very good lineup, quite similar to mine.

1) Hobbs
2) Hutton
3) Bradman (c)
4) Ponting
5) Tendulkar
6) Sobers
7) Gilly
8) Warne
9) Lillee
10) McGrath
11) Murali

12) Imran Khan

1) Hobbs (Eng)
2) Greenidge (WI)
3) Bradman (c) (Aus)
4) Lara (WI)
5) Tendulkar (Ind)
6) Imran Khan (Pak)
7) Gilchrist (wk) (Aus)
8) Warne (Aus)
9) Holding (WI)
10) Marshall (WI)
11) McGrath (Aus)

12) K. Miller (Aus)

I don't know if you watched Barry Richards play or not but let me tell you, he was some player.

Sutcliffe over Hobbs, eh? I know he's got a better average, but most pommies rate Hobbs as better overall.
