Dear Joel,

We would like to apologise to you for our disgraceful and unaccountable performances today. Playing in a key defensive post, we understand that we must do everything within our power to prevent the perfect delivery we allow opposition forwards to get. Despite your fantastic efforts in a game where you were continually under siege (and dudded by some ridiculous free kicks), the blame lies with us. In future, we will attempt to:

- Not allow opponents to stream through the midfield unabated
- To be accountable for our immediate opponent
- To apply pressure to said opponents, thus affecting their disposal so you are given an ideal opportunity to spoil
- Deliver the football to a target 20 metres or less up the field.
- Lure Leigh Brown somewhere up the ground, thus preventing your good work from being instantly ruined.

We understand that if we adhere to these very simple instructions, we are all guaranteed more exciting times ahead :)

On behalf of the midfield group, please accept our deepest apologies.

Yours sincerely,

To S. Watt,

Sorry for getting into you for so many years when we should have really been blaming the midfield. It wasn't until we had guys in the team that we like as people before we could accept the truth that you actually tried your butt off. The fact that our friends like Pez and Gibbo are now in your same position really makes us think of how unfortunate it was that we all lambasted you so.

To those guys the midfield are sorry, but to you, we are all sorry.

Signed,

Roos BF Board.

Ah, one of the Perry bashers rears his head. Meanwhile, S. Watt languishes in the reserves, running over the football and selling teammates into trouble with terrible decision making and disposal. Maybe he should've been in the midfield all along? :)

Re: An open letter of apology to Joel Petrie; from NMFC midfield

Yes we got smashed in the midfield today but that does not explain Perry. He is not up to it, he is just not smart enough as a footballer and the only reason he isn't the worst backman is because Hay is on the field.

Dear BF,

It was mothers day and my mum rang from ballarat to say if i wasnt back by 7:30 to help cut the pig i would be peeling potatoes for a week.

I thought the quickiest way to get there would be to help the team not score, therefore not prolonging the quaters any longer then they need be.

To save some more time, i tried hard not to get dirty so i could jump in the car in my tracky. Also if i didnt raise a sweet, i wouldnt need a shower. Sometimes I even surprise myself with my interlectual capabilites.

Anyway, i hope you enjoyed your day. With the 3g i earned from todays game, i could by my mum a really nice present.

Yours
D Petrie.

Not bashing Perry at all, just pointing out that how we rate players very much depends on whether we like them or not. I don't think Perry is at fault as much as Watt used to be, although Watt played on the best.

The midfield has bee largely to blame over the past couple of years but it takes supporters who love a particular player while another gets crucified for others to realise.

I thought Joel had a fairly good battle with Hentschel to be honest, given from his three goals, one was from a ridiculous free kick and one was from a North turnover up the ground that left Pez hopelessly exposed. He made a couple of errors, but he's shown over the last six weeks that he is the one North defender who is switched on and always making his opponent work for his touches.

There isn't a hell of a lot you can do when the ball is coming in like it was, and given Hentschel was so good the week before against Port, I'd say Pez did about as well as could have been expected in the circumstances.

Very disciplined too; made a couple of excellent pack spoils that probably went unnoticed, and always to the boundary side.

Sounds like a script from Faulty Towers

Not sure if it’s in the game plan to play accountable football so I don’t think the midfield need to be apologizing for anything. Now how are Simpson and co meant to get out on their own to receive an easy disposal if they man up? If they manned up we wouldn’t see so many loose men in defense and up on the wings to play this short chip backwards and sideways game of ours.

Evidently, the midfield's lack of accountability is the issue. They simply won't man up, despite instructions to the contrary.

You've come to this conclusion and made your mind up about him 7 games into his career?

Christ almighty.

Drewy was 1 of 5 players who had a dip yesterday.

Spud Frawley has lost the plot giving him 3 votes for worst on field.

I was dumbfounded at that. Drew worked his guts out yesterday. When you compare it to Brent Harvey's game who was bigger bludger than his brother, Drew has every right to punch him in the face.

Frawley couldnt have a more appropriate nickname. The bloke is a pure vegetable.

Nearly smashed the car driving home from Sunday's game. Danny (Ex-Richmond coach extraordinaire and one of their longest serving  ) Frawley and Jason (I'm much more suited to radio) Dunstall were asked by Quarterbrain 'where North were at' and what they needed to do.

The boys came up with "well they need to bite the bullet and play some kids"

McIntosh
Gibson
Schwarze
Le Cras
Perry

All have about 7 games or less in them. Others (Trotter) have had game time this year.

Get very annoyed with so called experts paid to give an opinion not bothering to give a researched or factual one

Re: An open letter of apology to Joel Petrie; from NMFC midfield

I think it was also mentioned that "the same old names" are relied upon to win us games, which to an extent is correct but it's a bit of a nothing statement. Of course if your two best players (Grant and Harvey) and captain are having indifferent seasons, the team's form will suffer... maybe it would have been more accurate to say the top tier is letting us down.
