At least Essendon doesn't have to worry about the Knights problem, nobody will threaten to not renew their membership. Three cheers for Hirdy.

Is the injury list much worse than it was two years ago? Hard to believe I just watched a team that wasn't GWS or Gold Coast lose a match by 16 goals with barely an affronting comment made about the performance.

Maybe next week.

The Weapon is still featuring in the stands, but Admin now very quiet on the man whose overseen two dramatic falls in a row and a plethora of soft tissue injuries.

Similar problems, but last year they had a different guy, Stuart Cormack, who resigned/was pushed mid-season.

Reckon they were ahead of where they thought they'd be earlier in the season, and it's evening out.

Essendon played a good game tonight, Gumby is very important for them, Winderlich done alright, i expect them to stay in the 8.

You have to be joking. Hawthorn were outstanding, but no more so than in the corresponding game last year.

No Knights-coached side conceded 27 goals to the opposition. With or without Franklin.

Mid table side missing 5-6 best 22 players (Hurley, Crameri, Zaharakis, Ryder, Hibberd, Myers) and a few depth players coming up against a contender in peak form.

Even with the outs we were pathetic. Hawthorn's footskills embarrassed us, we have a heap of dumb footballers and either the coaches box has no idea about defense or the players aren't carrying out their instructions which is very worrying. The amount of times a Hawthorn player took a mark then dished off to a player rolling off and then unloading to the left unchecked was bush league.

Even if we get something resembling our best 22 back, there's not enough time for them to build consistency and launch for the finals. This year is cooked.

Can we have some analysis and painful slow-mo replays of where Essendon are going wrong, like we get in Richmond games?
Haha. They rub our noses in it when we lose games by less than a goal the media.
Verucas have lost by 94 and a "owell they had a lot out ,they will get better"

:D

to be fair they werent up by 17 with 2 minutes to go... and they werent playing GCFC

They played a good game yet lost by 94........ do you have any idea how that sounds?
I'm trying to be sympathetic and unbiased, i know Hawthorn played a pretty good, but Gumby and Winderlich played some good football. Lets not talk up Hawthorn, there is a long way to go yet.

Such a troll thread.

I like how the OP is having yet another crack at this topic, didn't end up too well last time did it, champ.

Instead of trying to condemn the topic to Bay 13, would you care to address any of the points raised? Channel 7 didn't do a very good job of it.

e.g. The average losing score this year is 70. Essendon scored 86, while Hawthorn's 180 is the 7th-highest score ever kicked against the Bombers. What does this say about the improvement in Essendon's defensive structures and mindset in the wake of Knights, if anything?

Still think they had there best 6 players playing tonight. So really this injury excuse does not wash esp after a16 goal loss.
Hawthorn played a good game tonight, but i expect much more, they went to sleep for abit of the 3rd quarter and Essendon got a few quick goals.

Go read the Essendon board pre game for a laugh, most and by most nearly everyone of them believed they'd win tonight even with all their outs. Tells me they don't watch any other team except their own. They are the most biased supporters around by a long long way. They believed it would be close because of past history although none of them said that but i know how they think.

Hate to break it Essendon followers but Hawthorn are a great team this year regardless of what you flogs were saying this week. Essendon are not anywhere near a great team even at full strength, just a middle of the road contender having beat only one side in the current top 8 this year.

Essendons are the new Richmond. Poor overall list relying heavily on goal bursts to win games with little to no defensive pressure.

Enjoy the next 30 years of 2 finals campaigns :)
