Motlop 57 and Milne 54

Not a bad effort. Some of the bigger names they embarassed are,

Steve Johnson - 49
Richo - 48
Aker - 44
Medhurst - 48
Mooney - 46
Travis Cloke - 38
Mark Williams - 38
Nathan Brown - 35
Shannon Grant - 27
Didak - 24
Tarrant - 23
Jeff Farmer - 23
Dale Thomas - 22
Robbo - 20
Eddie Betts (some claim betts is better then Milne) - 25
Miller - 25
Tredrea - 31
Chapman - 31
Welsh - 41
Brad Johnson - 47

On a side note, well done Mckinley kicking 42 goals this year. Excellent for a rookie!

I dont believe Betts is currently better than milne but when both end their careers i believe Betts will have had a better career, He is only 21

Whoever scores the most goals is not necessarily the best...

This is 100% correct. I'll point to Carey and Tredrea's eras of dominance. Both were clearly the best tall forwards for several years, but neither got near a Coleman.

That said, from a Port point of view, Motlop has been brilliant this year, and has had to deal with our horrible forward entry to boot. He has finally developed some consistency to his game, but he can still be better.

Edit: Adding in assists puts Johnson ahead, but not by much. 6 Goals Contributed better than Motlop and only 3 better than Milne. That said, he's had Geelong delivery all year. He's a gun, not questioning it, but he certainly isn't as far ahead of Milne or Motlop as you'd like to believe.

Steve Johnson is #2 in the AFL for goal assists with 24, and Mooney was #1 with 33. Combining the goals with their assists, Johnson ends up with 73 and Mooney ends up with 79. Motlop only had 9 goal assists so together he ends up with 66 while Milne had 15 which makes his collective total 69. Although the statistics won't say it, alot of Johnson and Mooney's assists were easy give-mes that they could have scored themselves, and if you try to dispute that than you haven't seen a Geelong game recently! Like an earlier poster said, its not all about goals.

Geez some people are soooooooooooo pedantic. Look it up, big word for some! Of course Steve.J is a great player, der!

I'm going on goals scored, does it really take an Einstein to see that! Sheesh! (i already know the response, refer to the first line)

So let's forget the fact that some of those players missed games through injury [Richo,Brown,Betts,Wazza,Chappy,Robbo...etc] and some do play a lot in the midfield [Didak,Chappy,Thomas,Aker...etc].

LOL at this clown.

when you title your post "2 best (its a big word, look it up) small forwards"

expect to have people dispute it when you base it solely on goals

I personally would go with Medhurst and Davis, but I'm biased. While Stevie J is a gun, with the amount of ball he gets I think if you put Milne, Motlop, Medhurst etc in the same position they'd do just as well.

davis and medhurst.
i'll also say 'thanks for asking. :)

s johnson is obviously a gun too. but im gonna pick the pie boys.
cause if medhurst continues his rate of improvement, he'll probably end up greatest player of all time!:D

38 goals playing alongside the coleman medallist, and also the number 6 goal kicker. Hardly 'embarassed' when you consider that. Still - good effort
