.
Uncontracted Gaff would fetch a pick between 10 and 15.
Agree, they won't want t let him go unless it's a great deal.I think west coast will be fighting to hang onto him. They're losing mitchell and Priddis from the midfield already - to lose a third senior midfielder in the same off season will set them up for a big fall in 2017.
In what world?
The one in which is he as an All Australian mid literally one year ago?
Gaff for a second rounder, have you started the GD Day drinking already? I don't blame you.
Don't think AA has anything to do with Free agency compo.
I was clearly referring to his trade value not the likely FA compo.
Sure bud.
"Uncontracted Gaff would fetch a pick between 10 and 15"
Yep. If he were uncontracted this year that's my estimation of what he would fetch in a trade.
FA compo is clearly tied to your ladder position so why would I phrase it like that?
Anyway, misunderstanding, let's move on.
Ok, but FA compo is not tied to ladder position - just saying.
The pick is. Obviously not the Band level.
Nope. Ladder position has no bearing.
If the club receives for instance a compensation pick after their first round pick how is that not tied to ladder position?
CLUBS HAVE BEEN WARNED COMPENSATION IS:
* Not designed to fully compensate a club for the loss of a player
* Designed to reflect the relative values of various players to one another
* Not designed to make concession for the ladder position of a club losing a player, but standardise compensation across five categories of picks.
So how is a first round pick awarded? A team with pick 10 would originally have been awarded pick 11 assuming the player was deemed to be worth a first rounder. Has it changed? And if so, do they just award a pick in the middle of the round or something?

Hope he stays get so much entertainment watching him play for the eagles every week shiting his pants at every contest always giving off a quick ball to a player 1meter away no wonder his disposal efficiency is so great
Certainly turned out that way.I don't get why some Saints still bemoan losing Cripps for what they did, he is an average pressure forward and not much else.
Salary and contract determines what band is awarded then ladder position determines where the pick falls within the band. For eg both brisbane and geelong will probably get band 3 (second round) compensation for rockliff and motlop but for brisbane that would fall at pick 19 but for geelong it would be pick 34.
You have to be in the top 5% of paid players in the league i think. So someone would need to pay him about a mill per year
