In hindsight it's easy to blame older governments, but newer ones haven't done shit to stop it either.

We still allow non-citizens to buy houses here. Who don't even live in the country. Even the easy little shit we can do to help ease the housing market we don't do. Its pretty crazy.
And Mr Ogre (ahem, I mean Dutton) only wants to ban it for two years. What an idiot.

I went to a decent private school in the 80s and there wasn't a noticeable difference between their campus and the local public high schools, the big difference was really the extra curriculum activities on offer. Nowadays it's barely recognisable from the school I went to while the public system has stagnated. That began with Howard and now any reform to restore equality to it is met with howls of privileged outrage.
I'm currently reading John Howard's autobiography. He boasts how much funding he gave to private schools that wanted to open up and compete with the local Catholic and state school. He boasts that he's a believer in school choice. Why the **** is it the job of the taxpayer to help create another private school in your suburb?

Now our current PM is saddled with this system that heavily funds private schools and there will be hell to pay if that tap gets slightly turned down.

Did everything he could to force everyone onto private health cover too.

Synagogue burning in Melbourne overnight.
Well done Albo and Penny - great achievement in making us the anti-semetic capital of the western world.
Apparently anti-semitism has gone up 63% in the USA, and their Government is supplying the genocide and cheering for it.

I reckon it might be Israel causing the global round of anti-semitism, just as the Taliban and ISIS have been responsible for Islamophobic attacks.

If the ALP and their supporters try to gaslight us and tell us the economy is doing well and they're doing a great job, they need to be shown this again and again.

The RBA is independent of the Federal Government.

The Feds like letting the RBA do the things, even if they're the wrong things, so they can say 'it wasn't us'.

There's also little doubt the LNP wouldn't do anything to improve this, given most of it would require hitting the top 20% of wealth, not the bottom 80%.

Use the preferencing system, vote for someone that's not the majors first.

That's great that they think they can blame the RBA. But when we go to the polls, it doesn't say ALP/LNP/RBA

We expect the Govt to actually do something other than whinge and moan.

You think Israel is behind the fire bombing of the synagogue in Riponlea?

What has that chart got to do with the RBA getting it wrong? They are pulling the only lever they can to try and slow inflation. GDP growth (or lack thereof) is a separate issue.

Might want to brush up on your comprehension skills
How so? I'm sure Saint didn't mean that. And my comprehension skills are fine:

a) "I reckon it might be Israel causing the global round of anti-Semitism"
b) the attack on the synagogue was a clear act of anti-Semitism

Either way, a curious and at best, clumsy statement in the middle of posts talking about the fire bombing of a synagogue.

Ouch. You've taken a second go at it and still drastically missed.

Just going to ignore that your follow up question was whether they thought Israel was behind this specific attack are we?

Which is very different to whether Israel is responsible, at least in part, for anger coming their way, and catching up Jews in general, in the wake of their vast overreaction in Gaza (yet again) and other ethnic cleansing activities.

Doesn't help that Netanyahu and friends desperately try to conflate Israel and Jews at every possible turn as blanket shield from criticism of the actions of the nation state.

Yes, the reason the statistics about anti-semitism are up is because they call criticism of Israel anti-semitism.

They want to wrap the state in the protection of the religion by conflating the two, but then get (rightfully) upset that the religion targeted rather than the state.

Calling Netanyahu a war criminal isn't any more anti-semitic than calling Osama bin Laden a terrorist is Islamophobic.

Political leaders are right to criticise this attack, as we all should. But certain parts need to stop calling all criticism of Israel anti-semitic.

Doesn't alter that high interest rates are putting extra dollars in pockets in a large and growing sector of the community, who are spending up.

That's not blaming the RBA it's telling it as it is

Lots of calls blaming the govts. Saying they should crack down on anything anti Semitic. What
? Lock up some protesters? It's not a middle eat country as they keep telling us

Dutton and the Coalition will win with a majority.
The polls will underplay Dutton just like they always do with conservative parties. Those too close too calls will fall 80/20 Coalition.

If a swinging voter is pissed off with the Albanese government… I think that’s fair enough.

Imagine actually thinking that the thing to do is to instead vote for ****ing Dutton and the LNP. What level of imbecile would you need to be.

Does the average Joe care about Israel
I'm not sure it's the burning issue in the suburbs
Not overly. It's more an issue for the educated class than the working class out in the suburbs.

In fact a lot of "social justice" type causes are only the educated class with a growing divide with the working class.

Doesn't matter the level of education most people are too busy with their lives with far more pressing personal issues affect them.
