Lol. So disingenuous.

Where did I say anything about covering anything up? Liar.

You can say they are convicted drug smugglers AND maybe just maybe highlight a positive of getting Australians released from awful overseas gaols after serving long periods.

But no, all that sought to do was tell people Albo releases drug mules and cuts sentences.
That's just your interpretation. You need to get out more and speak to people.

Most people are glad they have been released. The media have been supportive of it. Having a go at the media over this is frankly bizarre.

If only the Reserve Bank looked at pretty graphs.
They have said themselves that inflation is still too high.
Since when did "still too high", equate to Labor currently causing "runaway" inflation (which was already rocketing up before and peaked soon after they took office)?

It's literally the headline and sub-headline that the paper wants people to focus on. It's just another example of trying to steer perceptions and paint it in a negative light.

What is bizarre, but yet unsurprising, is you not being able to do even simple media analysis.

Yes, because its a good news story. Its not a negative story. Labor spinners would love Albo being associated with them being released as one of the perceptions they are trying to fix is of him not being strong or decisive. I reckon he may even get a small bounce on these metrics at the next polls based on this alone.

Please work in the Labor media office. You would be a great gift for the Coalition.

Government has artificially reduced inflation by spending tax dollars on power subsidies. The reserve isn't fooled. Structurally inflation in the economy is still way too high and government spending is working against the reserve.

still waiting for your evidence to back up your claims of run away inflation and unprecedented spending

if you can't provide you are free to retract the statement

What's wrong with that headline? Jim and Albo have ****ed our economy in a way that is barely believable. We have runaway inflation and these arseholes are pumping unprecedented spending and immigration in on top of it.
Unprecedented spending?

They’ve come way closer to balancing the budget than the coalition ever did.

Remember tony Abbott and labor’s debt?

Might want to look at actual data rather than faux news.

Pay particular attention to who was in charge for what portion of the debt incurred.

Notice how it flattens off recently….

Is this not news?
What did you expect their headlines to say?
Seems to me you are asking for some sort of state sponsored media that acts as an arm of government by covering up any negative issues.

Also, its a few years ago but the West is an equal opportunity critiquer of government.

So where was the headlines when this happened:

According to the MYEFO, payments in 2024-25 are estimated to be $733.1b. That's the highest number ever.

(BTW, this is why a misinformation bill is a really bad idea. Someone is going to reply to this and factually state spending growth is lower than during COVID, the deficit is smaller than under COVID, and they'll be right. Doesn't mean I am wrong. This is what the contest of ideas looks like.)

What's your definition of runaway inflation? Mine is 13 rate rises to combat it and getting pissed off everytime I go to the shops, buy a beer or get an insurance bill in the mail. As for record govt spending will the AFR do?

You do realise it was government spending by the LNP during covid that caused the inflation… no I didn’t think so.. How times have you need dropped on your head?

It seems like Covid has simply been erased from peoples memories.

Australia Q3 Inflation Rate Below Estimates
Australia's annual inflation rate dropped to 2.8% in Q3 2024 from 3.8% in Q2, steeper than market expectations of 2.9%. It was the lowest reading since Q1 2021, with goods inflation sharply slowing (1.4% vs 3.2% in Q2), mainly due to declines in electricity and fuel prices amid the continued impact of Energy Bill Relief Fund rebates. Meanwhile, services inflation stayed elevated (4.6% vs 4.5%). Notably, prices eased for alcohol and tobacco (6.7% vs 6.8% in Q2), clothing (1.7% vs 2.9%), housing (2.8% vs 5.2%), health (4.8% vs 5.7%), and financial services (6.2% vs 6.4%). In addition, transport costs fell for the first time since Q4 2020 (-0.9% vs 4.6%). In contrast, inflation was steady for food (at 3.3%), while costs accelerated for recreation (2.1% vs 0.9%), education (6.4% vs 5.6%), and household services (0.7% vs -1.1%). The RBA's Trimmed Mean CPI rose 3.5% yot, the softest gain in nearly three years, aligning with consensus but still exceeding the central bank's 2-3% target. less

How can it be runaway inflation when the trend is moving down?

Meanwhile in the US they just cut interest rates for a third time.

If it's a good news story, maybe write a positive headline.

I don't know why I bother with you, you're just trolling at this point. Sad thing is, you think you're coming across as clever.

Interest rates are not inflation

please provide evidence that we currently have runaway inflation

please also provided evidence of unprecedented spending from the government as the AFR article does not do this

or retract your statements
