Anthony Albanese - How long? -3-

It does appear we have reached a critical mas of mostly working class people who are angry, fed up and disillusioned at the system screwing them and leaving them behind are are taking it out on whoever is in power.

Good luck with any progressive movements while that is going on.
There were a fair number of ALP voters last election who were hoping to see a much redder shirt on Albo than they got, not necessarily the ALP promises, but the perception that they would bring a more progressive policy platform.

They got politicians. Not the radicals they hoped for out of the dialogue while in opposition.

If those people are turned away from the ALP it might not make a difference since their vote probably just slips Green anyway, but the base of the ALP is fractured.

The LNP on the other hand doesn't have a base since they've both been clamoring for the same votes. I think working class rusted on ALP voters are more likely to vote super populist or nationalist, in like with Hanson, more than they will vote LNP.

This next election will be one I will put entirely down to the old Aussie election style of voting OUT politicians, not voting them in. Whomever is in charge when things aren't great is responsible, they aren't engaged enough to identify broader systematic issues or global causes, they just see their cost of living go through the roof over the last three years and blame the guy at the top.

Politicians of all stripes but particularly those who align with "more government means better outcomes for everyone" tend to like to foster the perception that everything good is because of the government and then hope that anything bad can be the result of things outside their control - but our voting system doesn't have only motivated and engaged voters. So they can get patted on the back when people think times are good, such as McGowan's landslide win in WA last election after excluding covid from WA for as long as possible - but they also wear it when times are rough.

The politician who keeps their head down and isn't in the media tends to do best. It's why the media associated with support for each party tends to smother on stories about the other side's leader as much as possible.

In Australia, a good politician is one you rarely see or hear while global markets mean everyone gets a payrise at work and goods and services don't get more expensive.

Why would they worship Trump in Australia, on an AFL forum? What would be their reason for that?
I don't know, perhaps ask Xtreme their views.

They accuse others for being “in love” with Biden and Albo because they want to “stick it to them” and score points. Which is the bulk of this area of the forum.
Perhaps some do. For others, it's deflection. People often accuse others of what they're actually guilty of themselves, maybe to get the focus off themselves and onto someone else, or maybe to assuage their own guilt or self-loathing.

Conservatives have a long history of this: closeted conservative politicians being homophobic, Newt Gingrich demanding Bill Clinton resign over having an affair while he himself was having an affair, Ben Shapiro parroting "facts don't care about your feelings" while ignoring the facts, QAnon being a transparent attempt to shield Trump from scrutiny over his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, accusing "centre-left" parties of being pro-establishment while conservative parties serve the economic interests of the billionaire class, the UK Conservative conspiracy theory that Starmer was breaking lockdown rules while Boris Johnson was having massive piss-ups at the same time, and so on.

There's even a phrase for this, "every conservative accusation is a confession".

Great explanation.

Out of interest do you live in a regional area? My Dad had satellite on his previous farm and he actually got pretty decent speeds. Better than some fttn residence's.
Starlink speeds are much better than FTTN in regional areas. It's pretty much a necessity now. It'll be interesting to see how that market develops.

Three questions on this then.

1. Who is a single poster on SRP who is incapable of criticising or calling out Albo, Wong, Dreyfus, the ALP?
2. In all honesty, who from 'the left side' would you consider to be as ridiculous or more ridiculous than the Jane Doe, demon09 posters?
3. Which 'side' would you more often expect to see unhinged support/attacks from?

Couple in mind for Qs 1 and 2, but I won’t be singling posters out mate, sorry. Achieves nothing in my view.

Q3 - Ive seen unhinged support and attacks from all “sides” mate - its all over the Dutton, Albanese, Trump and Biden threads.

I think it's because you can't. Rather than not wanting to name and shame.

I think the answers to all three of my questions are so obvious, that you can't answer them as you don't accept what you know the answers must be.

Even question 3. I asked about 'more often', you know the answer, which is why you changed it to broadly saying both sides.

There's a narrative about what the SRP is, which is contradicted by what the SRP actually is.

I most definetly can answer them mate. One is a mod, not hard to work that one out. But I’m choosing to not because naming and shaming achieves nothing other than further arguments. If you already had the answers in your mind, then you shouldn’t be asking me these questions. Just come out and make a statement instead.

I think it's more that remaining vague allows you to manintan your position of 'as bad as each other'. Whereas if you did actually answer honestly, you'd not be able to substantiate it.

Or, you'd possibly display yourself as more biased and less centrist than you believe yourself to be.

I asked you because you made a point of having a deeper knowledge of posters on here, and their ideologies.

You don't have to answer, I hoped you would but didn't think you'd be able to, I'll leave it now.
Thanks for responding.

If a tree falls over when there's nobody around, does it make a sound ? If there was no DT thread I wouldn't post as ferociously as I do on this part of BF.

Every January recently when cabinet papers are released is further confirmation of the incompetency and of the Howard prime ministership.
He was an expert politican and vote-buyer. All short-term crap that made our country worse. He was a dinosaur that sent Australia backwards by decades and I hate him.

I'd imagine that, in around 1857, there would be any number of Brits who would've been absolutely convinced - to the point of believing that the sun rising was an equvalent - that the British East India Company would last forever as well.

All things end, MP. Just ask old Ozymandias.
I wasn't even talking about removing media companies in the comment they were replying to lol. Just splitting them into smaller companies as has happened with Standard Oil and Bell Telephone.

Was Dutton a public servant?

Has Dutton made money from government child care subsidies?

Is Dutton now a public servant?

Impressive story this election, getting to choose between two guys who have started from humble beginnings to be multi millionaires.

All of the negativity directed tends to fall flat when Albo spends a lifetime worth of regular people's earnings on a holiday home in a cost of living crisis.

I'm not suggesting you're not critical of that, even from a optics perspective at least, I'm just saying that this is a great opportunity for everyone to remember that politics are not your friend.

Build your local community.

Or maybe he has the wrong policies and the wrong treasurer?
