Sounds like he has had the life sucked out of him. Really poor timing.. Grow a set and move on...

Sorry are you questioning the fortitude of this man??

Arch has said Stevo has on multiple occasions turned down what is signifcant coin to talk about this. Sounds like he'ss got a bit of intergrity about him. I mean more so than say someone that wrote a book about it basically to revive his ability to make a buck.

Anthony Stevens can say whatever he likes whenever he likes to whoever he likes about this.

Out of this comes a real test for Wayne, my advice is what ever Stevo says he has a right to, so you can just keep your mouth shut.

Ever stop to think that perhaps he's speaking about it to move on. I mean he's not in the footy media every week showcasing how his life centers around hating his ex wife and carey so that must be what he's doing.

And if you still want to hate someone I suggest you start with your wife.

You mean his ex wife that he as kids with and is likely to never move past it with? Do you have any idea what that is like? to have a broken relationship that you have to grind something out of for the sake of a child/children?

Your suggestion is that he should hate her? For how long, Forever? and have his kids know that he hates her so that they what? Hate her too, or perhaps they hate him for hating her? or perhaps they grow to hate both of them.

What ever way you slice that it is hard and ugly and the children will be adult before it gets easier.

Seriously Wayne, play a straight bat, " Anthony has every right to say what he wants, it was a sad situation from which there were no winners hopefully everything is behind everyone involved now."

and then let it go.

We have butted heads at times over the last couple of years but we are as one on this, great post.

Don't agree its been 13 years.. get over it.. Wayne wasn't the first & he wont be the last.. just poor timing IMO
And his wife? Innocent bystander & yes broken relationships are tough but you cant continue to dwell on the past its not healthy.. maybe its just me wishing it would all be forgotten.

North Melbourne great Glenn Archer admits it is sad that the chemistry within the team he won premierships with as a player will never be the same after Wayne Carey had an affair with Anthony Stevens’ wife.

In 2002 Archer and teammates learned that Carey had been sleeping with Kelli Stevens and confronted their captain on the situation.

All will be revealed by Stevens on Open Mike on Monday night in an interview with Mike Sheahan, which Archer confirms will be interesting viewing for fans.

“I bump into Wayne every now and then at the odd football function and I always say hello, I must admit it is still very awkward,” said Archer on SEN radio.

“We were so close for so many years, so it’s generally a ‘hi, how you going?’ then we move on.”

Archer stayed with his good mate Stevens for some time after he found out about the affair to make sure he was okay.

He concedes watching the interview last night was an emotional experience, but understands why Stevens wanted to speak.

“It would have been really tough,” said Archer.

“A lot of people have asked me, why did he talk now, basically Mike has been asking him for five years.

“Stevo’s a typical loyal guy and loves Mike, thinks he’s a great guy.

“He said to him on maybe 10 occasions maybe one day I’ll have a chat.

“You’ve also got to understand that over the last 13 years I’ve had calls from magazine and TV networks trying to get to Stevo.

“They’ve offered him as much as $250,000 to talk and he kept saying no – the one thing he doesn’t want to do is make money out of something like this.

“He just decided it’s time to have a chat, and I’m sure it will be riveting viewing for the public.

“I’ve moved on from it a long time ago.”

Carey was the leader of a very successful team that will unfortunately always also be remembered for an intra-club affair.

“One of the sad parts about it is we won premierships together and when you win premierships you look forward to the reunions,” explained Archer.

“We’ll have our 20-year reunion next year and unfortunately there’s Wayne in one corner, Anthony in another corner and a lot of tension in the middle.

“When I watched it you think about what could have been, because if that didn’t happen we’d all still be great mates.”

Not sure if I've mentioned it but I've got Foxtel now so I'll be able to watch it live. Got a heap of mates coming over with slabs to share. I'm about to buy some anti-pasta to nibble on and a heap of beef jerky for after the show.
I wonder if there'll be any mention of Stevo wishing his brother Nik had played with him and Danny at NM?

Now that's absolute crap. Say the name Wayne Carey, and people all over the country remember a brilliant footballer who did a few things off field that tarnished his reputation. Say the name Kellie Stevens, and all people remember is one thing. She did not get off lightly. Many women have had affairs. Very few have had their name and reputation tarnished so publicly.
And rightly so because Wayne wasn't the first, but the other poor bloke got shipped off to Freo. She got off scot free in my opinion and I am a woman.
If Stevo chose to forgive her so be it but seems that he has woken up to himself now. I hope the 2 kids are sheltered from all of this as it was not their choice to be a part of any of this

Wayne Carey says he still hasn’t forgiven himself for having affair with Anthony Stevens’ ex-wife Kelli

But Carey refuted Stevens’ claims that he never apologised to his former teammate and said he was remorseful for what happened.

“To be honest I haven’t forgiven myself,” Carey told Channel 7 on Monday night.

“It’s been a long process and I still deal with it from day to day.”

Carey claimed had apologised face-to-face “on a number of occasions” but said it was possible that his Stevens’ emotions were so high that he didn’t hear him.

“It was probably the one thing, I won’t say hurt me, but I was disappointed that Anthony thought I hadn’t apologised,” Carey said.“It’s very strong emotions, very strong feelings that are clearly still there, so completely understand when you have those feelings and emotions sometimes you don’t hear what people are actually saying to you and I completely understand that.”
He added during the interview: “I understand that there are people still hurting.”

Stevens has broken his silence for an episode of Open Mike , which will air on Fox Footy at 9.30pm tonight.
