Curve don't get a mentioned a great deal on this board, so I'm happy to see it become a bit of a love-in. A couple others that I love are:

and a live version of Coast is Clear

One lady that I don't think has got too much mention on this thread is Johnette Napolitano, lead vocalist of Concrete Blonde, one of my favourite rock bands of the late 80's and early 90's, and released a number of great albums, including the self titled debut, 'FREE', 'BLOODLETTING' and 'WALKING IN LONDON'. Pettered out a little towards the end, but were a great band and Johnette had one of the most beautiful voices.

Besides 'Joey", I'm a fan. Super cool chick.

As the previous videos show. Has a very strong voice.

Back in the early 80's I had a crush on Terri Nunn from Berlin, I thought she had a beautiful voice. I also liked the voice of Rindi Ross from one hit wonders Quarterflash.

I used to have a thing for Harriet Wheeler from The Sundays but after looking back at her images I'm now certain it was her voice rather than looks that hooked me.

I am mainly a metal, punk and rock'n'roll lover, but when i need a break and occasionally you do the following ladies always get a spin.
PJ harvey, Tori Amos, Bat For Lashes, Goldfrapp, Neko Case, Spinerette (brodie Dalle), Donnas, kate bush, curve, garbage, cranberries, sinead o'connor, The Bellrays howling bells. all good stuff IMO

Many already mentioned but Distillers , Muffs /Kim Shattuck , and any Kay Hanley associated projects . Who saw Sia at Meredith recently ? - great performer, also Spinerette playing at Corner Hotel in March - (i alrready have Tix.) Although not a female frontperson Pixies touring Oz next year and anything with Kim Deal in it is good.

A few others I have forgotten - oldies from my youth - The Primitives and The Darling Buds / Aussie chicks - Magic Dirt ,The Spazzys, The Grates, Little Birdy and ? Short Stack ??!!

Wendy O Williams was a wild one. Black Leather Monster is a punk classic.

She reminds me of the firebreathing bass playing Corey Parks, formerly of Nashville Pussy.

Johanna Newsom wins this thread for me, Ys is one of the best albums of the decade.

I'll give a shout out to two ladies in a genre I'm not really a massive fan of but I like their work.

Missy Elliott

Big fan of Metric, Ladytron, Angus & Julia Stone and Amanda Palmer. I think that 'The Brunettes', a Kiwi band who opened for Sarah Blasko a few months ago, are quite decent too.

I absolutely love female artists/vocals. I am a female though, just thought I'd add in my two cents.

Sarah Blasko, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Metric, Howling Bells, Julia Stone (Angus and Julia Stone), Ladyhawke, Peaches, La Roux, Tegan and Sara, Goldfrapp, The Grates, Kate Nash, Lily Allen.
