ANZ Stadium surface is a disgrace

That was an absolute joke. Bloody ruined a good mark to. But seriously it looked like a checkered quilt out there, so many different shades of green, which cannot be good. What a shambles.

Why does it matter what color the grass is. That has no bearing on the playability of the ground. Its all about asthetics.

Cloke getting a mouthful of dirt was rather funny but yeah that ground surface was an absolute stinker, the top layer came off with ridiculous ease. They shouldn't have had the game there so soon after the Origin match.

Seen a better surface out at Box Hil City Oval. That was a total disgrace as I noted in the match thread and I'm just thankful no serious injury was suffered as a consequence of that. Sirengate is bad enough, no need for Kneeboggate too!

What was that other great surface ? Oh that's right..Telstra Dome. Had like 2 games a week only and it was absolute shit for 5 years. There was a period where people complained for about 2 weeks and then it was forgotten.

Two years on and the same rubbish. The newly laid grass strips on both of the wings (where the seating gets dragged over for League matches) shouldn't be acceptable at any level, let alone AFL. You can count on a player losing their footing whenever they get within 15 metres of the boundary.

It is the same for every game. The stadium is overused in terms of the surface can't handle it. It might drain well but it is not a good surface. You can see how chopped up it gets.

I heard the Swans are locked in until 2015 to that stadium - fair dinkum.

No. It was not true.

Umm, actually it was true. I was at the game with my 10 year old son and he pointed it out to me. They also explained what a behind was and, I think, a few other rules.

I get that there's always a need to educate the newbies but it makes it hard to make the honest point that there are many many knowledgeable Sydney fans out there - we have been in the city for a while now.

My guess was that it might have been for the international people in the crowd (all the international teams playing in the World Champs thing were in attendance and did a lap of honour at 1/2 time). But then most of the international people in attendance play the game themselves, so...yeh. Dunno any other reason considering that has never, ever been done at Swans games before.

It is bizarre but I think it could be that they think there might be some western sydney supporters who don't know the rules very well who might have attended.

If that's the case Sheedy can set up a rules night/BBQ or something (they can hire a phone booth to fit them all in) and leave the Swans alone - we're not organising our games for their benefit.

If that is true that is insulting to the supporters who know the game. I for one find it degrading that it's presumed just because I go for an expansion team, the impression is I have NFI what a goal is.
