I like this. We can afford to go reasonably small against Essendon. They only have Draper/Phillips as really big bodies forward. Langford/Stringer/Jones can be covered by IQ/Maynard and Ruscoe.

I think as unpopular as it is, Will Kelly should come into consideration for us down back this week.

Moore will take that Draper/Phillips matchup. Maynard will take that Stringer matchup. If they are playing Jones & Weideman we need some height down there to compete in the air. The rest of our defenders from the weekend would be giving up way too much size to compete defensively.

Don't even bother talking about Kelly, he's been playing on the wing and he sure as hell isn't ever playing wing in the AFL. We had basically no key position players in the VFL and he was still playing on the wing, I think they have given up on him playing key position which makes me wonder why we bothered keeping him.

Freddy really needs a month in the VFL to be ready but we may have no choice but to play him, although Cox may be back and Dolph (Frampton) can go back to full back

I saw the transcript where it said he'd said that. But he said it after acknowledging he hadn't see the scan results, which was interesting. Either he's genuinely not close or he's just guessing. I'm hoping he's just guessing.

I know we’re all at the point of being blasé about COVID now, but I’d like him to come in to his debut feeling bulletproof and ready to go. At the moment he’s probably not permitted to even train with the team, and that’s assuming he feels well enough to.
