ANZAC match teaches Maxwell nothing... he still thinks a football game is equal to a War... that is what he said after the game... piss poor effort from the club that has embraced the spirit of the ANZACs so much...

Re: ANZAC match teaches Maxwell nothing...

WTF? Stop trolling, Goddard said the same thing, the players have just gone to war and now have to back it up again, its just a statement, they weren't comparing what they did with what the soldiers do.

How about you go talk about who your club is going to draft and leave the grand final talk to us grown ups.

Re: ANZAC match teaches Maxwell nothing...

hahaha WTF, Goddard and Lyon said it aswell, this has got to be the worst thread i have ever seen. srs

Perhaps he wrongly assumed people were intelligent enough to realise it's merely a synonym and he's not actually suggesting it is just like Iraq or Vietnam.

Obviously you're not one of them...

Re: ANZAC match teaches Maxwell nothing...

Maxwell was not the only one to say it, but it really grated on me as well. Just goes to show what an insular bunch of tossers the AFL community are. You can forgive Maxwell as he said it straight after the game and must have been exhausted, Lyon, less forgiveable. The OP has a point but it is unfair to single him out.

Re: ANZAC match teaches Maxwell nothing...

I'm sure Nick Maxwell & Lyon and all them really think the Australian soldiers are over in Afganistan playing a game of footy against the taliban, and WWII was decided from a free kick after siren.

Just to clarify:

war
–verb (used without object)
12. to be in conflict or in a state of strong opposition

Re: ANZAC match teaches Maxwell nothing...

War! What is it good for? Absolutely nothin! Huh!

Re: ANZAC match teaches Maxwell nothing...

The North Melbourne supporter should be muzzled. Haven't heard a sensible word from him since 1998.

synonym- really ? I think the word you are looking for is "analogy"

Re: ANZAC match teaches Maxwell nothing...

geez the OP and a few other knobs will now need counselling. The publishers of the Footy Record just announced they will use the WAR headline on the cover quoting both Maxwell and Goddard. can you please STFU now?
