Nice pair of music scolarships there...PJ-Rod said:Bryan Vance named skipper of MGS, Daniel Sartori is Vice-Captain.
Any other APS appointments?

GGS coming soon, voted today, it will be Mercer.
We vote 1st, 2nd and 3rd preference, and these are taken into account by the coach when he decides._TiGeR-ToWn_ said:They vote for it?

Most people voted Mercer, and he was already the most likely.
Why do you say that? I would have thought it was the norm._TiGeR-ToWn_ said:interesting way of doing it but makes for the most popular captain.
ablettjnr said:Why do you say that? I would have thought it was the norm.
The captaincy doesn't go entirely on the votes, just something for the coach to use as a guide to what the players would like.
The coach knows, but it's just a way to make sure the players have an input. Personally I like it that way._TiGeR-ToWn_ said:Well i have never heard of using a vote to help out the coach. Usually the Coach knows who they want as captain. Sounds like they just do it differently down at Geelong, must be something in the water

How do you do it down HC way?
Yeah we also utilise practice games to try different captains. I just think that in the end, voting helps to get a guy that people actually want as their captain, not some guy who's been sucking off the coach._TiGeR-ToWn_ said:We have a couple of practices and usually the kids with the most experience and prior leadership skills (captaining Dowling and clubs) will get to captain a game each. The coach has an idea of who they want but the games just help him to make a final choice.

Yup, and then the team doesn't work as well because they don't like their captain. Voting goes a long way to make sure that it doesn't happen._TiGeR-ToWn_ said:Yeah cant stand d*ck suckers, they just give me the sh*ts. There was a captain a few years back who did that and got the job, worst decsion ever

Righto._TiGeR-ToWn_ said:Well i reckon after about 10 posts we can agree that having a vote is a good thing.
Moving on, how is GGs (or you from GCs) looking this year?
Left arm offie. Defensive mainly._TiGeR-ToWn_ said:Cool, so you are a spinner? leggie ? offie? can you bat or you struggle with it a bit?
ablettjnr said:Left arm offie. Defensive mainly.
Can bat, have batted for 36 overs in a 50 over game (yes we suck) batting at 8. Scored 16 not out.
I throw the willow a bit more now.
ablettjnr said:Righto.
GGS, looking alright. Pretty solid bowling line-up, similar to last year in terms of structure. Batting could be an issue, we have guys that can score well on their day, but confidence will be shot if they don't get good scores early on in the piece. We will most likely struggle in the one dayers due to our inablity to score quickly. Players feel like they are under too much pressure and won't come out swinging and risk going out cheaply.
At this stage we are looking at opening the bowling in the one-dayers with a spinner (potentially myself).
Well I had to, considering we were 7/18...not kidding either, but we made 9/100 so I did what I had to do._TiGeR-ToWn_ said:Not slow at all when does HC play you guys? we play one Geelong in the one-dayers but im not sure which one
I repeat that draw is same as it was for footy this year and last 2 rounds are in term 2. Also heard that several schools who performed poorly have been on aggressive recruiting drives despite the Headmasters stating that this would not happen._TiGeR-ToWn_ said:Yeah im guessing we have GC then
We only have 3 one-dayers which is strange as the commenwealth games are sure to interfere with term one. We could be playing into term 2 as term 1 is so short, we will just have to wait and see

Sharty said:sorry i have been away for awhile and missed alot, jared martinago was the best keeper in the aps last year and the year before that, so we can stop that argument, SKC's captain this year ia Liam Dunne, skc like many other teams such as xavier have not been tlaked about alot this year, but will proove to be strong under estimated teams, but skc will be a 2nd year side, skc have a very strong batting line up from 1-7 with one of their openers being very talented along with 1st 2nd and 3rd drop, those players will be the turning point in skc's season, along with their bowlers aswell, skc and xavier have a practice match next saturday which will be one to watch, two under estimated teams going at it!
