Aps Vs Ags

Kickoff at 12.00pm....be there much earlier to grab a good seat.

Cheers on the complement!

hmmm, i was asking about the aps football, not the soccer....as i believe the term kickoff is more related to the round ball version of the game...

played for bas against agsv on wednesday, they played very well as a team, stand outs wouldve been miller #32 and sinclair at full forward... very good hands and kick for goal

One game doesnt make a player

it wasnt just one game, he was a star player for wesley from what ive heard and he has definetely earnt his position in the team...he is also a unit and dominated the playing on the xavs forwards on saturday coming back from injury and yet he is still very underated and should be more recognissed...

Croft on the other hand is a total gun as he has played metro and everything.. top 20 dratf pick.

Top 20 draft pick?? pffft... Henderson and Rioli will be top 20 draft picks. Sandilands will come later at around 60-80. O'Keefe and Curnow will go as early rookies. Sanfillipo and Croft will go as late rookies or maybe not at all.

Chivers will play CHB or along the HBF, too much of an athelte to leave at FB. Killed quality CHFs this year (well in the few games i saw) Newman would be in the team for sure. I would say Kennedy from SKC would be the likely choice as FB.

lol....just looking at the team i think you've missed a pretty big player in jr rioli. is he injured and/or not playing or did u just accidently leave him out?

Lisle at CHF frustrates me as he's only there by default.

Sundberg and Sanfillipo changing throughout the game?

I think you've got the team fairly good. What are you're (South Swans) thoughts on rotations, changes, etc.?

What do u mean Lisle is only there by default? how does that work? Why does it frustrate you that he is at CHF?

He's there by the fact that they need at least two Carey players in the team and he is incapable (not versatile enough) to play anywhere else. Good player but there are better CHFs going round.

APS ran out winners fairly comfortably in the end. A very good quality game and top spectacle for the crowd.

1st Qtr
AGS had some good foot speed and were very clean in the midfield. They jumped out of the blocks well early and were winning the clearances. Sinclair, Clifton and Armstrong were impressive during the opening term for the AGS crew and they took at 4 goals to 1 lead with the wind.

2nd Qtr
APS ran harder and started to take control of the corridor, with #6 Hill and #3 Sanfillipo (who was later flattened by Chivers) particularly influential. #4 Martin had the ball on a string and the defense was working very well lead by Croft and Chivers. AGS rallied late in the quarter with a couple of late ones, but the APS took a small lead into the main break with 8 goals to 6 on the scoreboard.

3rd Qtr
The APS forwards were becoming a real handful with Smith leading well and Yaman and Wynne providing excellent defensive work in the 40m arc. For AGS, Joyce and Zaharakis were getting a lot of possessions across HB. Jones was rucking well for APS and Wood along with Sargent were running hard on the wings. Both teams scored a couple of goals for the term setting up an interesting battle in the last.

4th Qtr
Sandilands had been consistent all game, started to dominate. Croft moved to CHF and really imposed himself. Uren (PEGS) was running hard through the middle. APS had several forward entries and kicked a few points until Yaman sent a torp through from 60m out to stretch the lead out to four goals. Lisle took a good contested mark up forward and the APS were home.

Great spectacle and a really high scoring match with nearly 30 goals scored on a windy day and not many points. APS were taller and stronger on the day - glad they didn't have all of their stars in like Rioli, O'Keefe and Henderson or it would have been a different story.

Good to see the aps got up. Don't think the score would have been that different as ags has some top players out like Cotchin, Maric, etc.

That's true, I'd forgotten about those two.
So about a 5 goal margin was on par for the comps then.

Bit closer than last year when Josh Kennedy, Sam Sheldon and Nathan Djerrkura tore them up and won by 12 goals.

I must have been at a different game then. The skill level was poor, there were a lot of turn overs and the teams were hardly represented by the best players in each competition - given the likes of Rioli, Grant, Henderson, Cotchin and Maric didn't play - along with a number of more talented Year 10s and Year 11s who didn't get picked.

If they're going to compare the leagues, they need to at least have the very best of each playing. Not some game filled with second rate players.

well we'll pencil those ones in then wont we because South Swans "aka gun recruiter" is in the know. You're a tool.

from the caulfield boys:
Hugh Sandilands was consistent all day. very good as he patrolled around the half back flank. he was the standout.
Tom Sundberg started off very slow (maybe casue i saw him at my formal last night lol) but kicked a nice goal and did some silky stuff. his third quarter was freakshow.
Tilly Yamen did some team things whci s uncharacteristic. huge barrel for about 60 out. kicked a few but was below his usual best
Zack Sengtock was a little disappointing arondt he ground. not taking too many marks but it seemed when he went into the ruck he really dominitated

APS BESTS: Sandilands, Chivers, Johnson, Croft, Wood, Martin, Hill

AGS BESTS: Shuey, Bain, Joyce, Sinclair, Miriklis, Kilpin

Good win by the boys in blue, very solid backline throughout the whole day, the midfielders such as sargent, easton, martin all played well producing the good delivering to the forwards. Overall well faught out game which the wind had alot to do with.. good work APS

how the hell can u not put sargent in the best! the kid got 32 touches and an amzing 14 in the second quarter, as well as winning the majority of the clearances for the aps. Also james pickering's goal of the day in the second has to be mentioned, 40m out on the boundary straight through.

Watch this space people. Bookmark the thread and come back to it at draft time. If I'm wrong then I won't come back on this board.

Gee you try and generate some logical debate on here and theres only a few who say proper shit. Majority is just people pumping their mates (or themselves) tires.

Sandilands?, Yaman?, Sundberg? your not in much of a position to speak.

Jenkins for AGS is a nutter! Toughest footballer I have seen at school level. McCarthy was their best I reckon. Martin had about 30 possies, has a very good engiene. Wynne, Jonson, Sandilands were all good. Missed the first half so I'm just judging on the second half... If Yaman was 2 foot taller he would be a pretty good player, he is just too short.

Alright game, Easton Wood looks alright. Lisle was casual, Kennedy runs and runs and runs.
