Tonight confirms what I always thought. The Dockers arent tanking. They were actually trying hard in the first 10 rounds. They are just no good and have a game plan that is 10 years old. They have been losing fair and square. 1-10 is where they are at. Add a 100% fit Fyfe in and they would probably be 2-9.

Ross might be in trouble. I heard there was a clause in his contract which stated his extension to 2020 only applied if he tanked his way to this years no.1 pick.

They havent been tanking. They are just shit. Lyon's game plan requires 100% manic buy-in and when that drops off to 90% they are done for. That is all that has happened.

Imagine where they'd be with a fully fit Sandilands, Mundy, Bennell, Johnson, Clancee Pearce and Ibbotson too.
If they go full on for wins this year where could they finish at highest?
13-14th? Still gets pick 5-6 and possibly unearthed a few kids who can play in a winning system.
Unless there is a kid they just have to have who is a guaranteed gun greater than anyone else in the draft, not sure why pick 1 is going to be that much more worth than pick 5-6

Sandilands, Alex Pearce, Bennel (question mark), Johnson, other injuries for shorter durations but seemingly never ending, recent retirements, finally playing the youngsters like everyone bloody wanted Lyon to for the last couple of years and now accuse of not trying to win when we do, the fact that 90% of Bigfooty thought we were the worst ever #1 team in history last year and now have completely forgotten that, AFL changing the rules so a gameplan needs to be worked over before a team can adjust... probably a couple more reasons but that should give you enough to work on.
As for "no good"... I expect us to move back up to mid-table next year if the curse of this year doesn't repeat itself. It's fairly clear we're a lot better than the first ten rounds have shown... well, clear to anyone who actually thinks beyond what they're told to think anyway. A little bit of sound trading and we might actually have a better team than we had even in '13.
