I find the Bombers win confusing.
Usually the ability to travel Perth and Adelaide and win for an interstate side, indicates a very tough team. One ready to contend seriously.
Yet the Bombers play well interstate and then drop games they shouldn't.
I confess I have no idea how to rate them game to game.
bombers are coming good at the wrong time of year.
this is what we thought we might get at the start of the season.

I would argue you have better form than them.
I pointed this out with head to head vs. carlton on same ground.
was met with deafening silence from eagles.
ladder positions make a lie of this but there is an argument to be had who has better form...eagles or freo.
freo for me.

Well the last fortnight we've been better! 2-0 vs 0-2 haha. Not sure about overall though.
But overall the Eagles seem to be really missing Darling, as we did earlier on with Walters and Taberner out.
Freo have always travelled relatively well under Ross Lyon so not surprising they won last week, they showed they are definitely mid to lower table as they are carved up by the stronger sides on the road (PA, GWS, Richmond, Swans etc.) but then strong at home and competitive against weaker sides on the road.

Well you've got to pay last night. If you just look at the stats you migh think the Eagles just had an off night, with their most reliable goalkickers out. If you watched the game they dominated whenever they had to though.

Yup. Even Freo beat them relatively comfortably in Perth earlier this year. And then they smash the Eagles?
Eagles would have lost to Carlton last night that's how badly they played. Not 1 player gave a crap in the first qtr

Think they are a massive headcase team - just as likely to come out and get rolled by North next week

A team that's 6-7 with a percentage of 88.7 is in better form than a team 10-3 @ 123.9?

I mean.....yeah sure good form?

Last time i checked away games arw worth 4 points
Home games are worth 4 points

Most stupid illogical arguement ive seen ever

Not really, he is merely highlighting the fact that the GF is played at Richmonds home ground, a place they very rarely lose at

How so?
It was a rebuttal to the point that Richmond are 0-3 interstate this year. And yet despite this they are 10-3 and level with WC and Sydney. I could say the argument that Richmond's away record is bad is also 'stupid' and 'illogical' (and wrong, as I said they were good last season interstate, just had a rough schedule thus far).

Its illogical...4 points is 4 points

If we win make top 4 it really doesnt matter how you get the points ....

Well sincr the comp went to tje AFL THERE has been 11 flags won by interstate teams in roughly 30 seasons. .

So those stats tell me its far from impossible to win a flag by a non Victorian team.

Roughly 1/3 of the teams are non Victorian ..

So that tells us.the odds are fairly even.

But hey argue against thr facts

West coast 3 flags
Crows 2
Lions 3
Swans 2
Port 1

If you're good enough youre good enough

What happened in the 90's has no relevance to this year, with that in mind Richmond are going to be very hard to beat at the G, which happens to be the ground where they will play final home games

Apart from that, agreed if you are good enough you win.

It's not a poor era.
The Hawks threepeat side will be remembered as a great side. The last two years have seen a team rise to the challenge and dominate the finals, that's very typical. A side will rise in September this year, we just dont know who. If it is the Tigers then back to back flags elevates them as a dominant team and their players will be rated accordingly in time.
Or someone else could begin a great period of success, who knows.
I thought it would have been obvious that I'm talking post Hawthorn.

If you think there are great teams running around you're new to footy.

here we go...woulda, coulda and shoulda.
wipe away those bitter tears.

and this stinks it right up.
no mention of that small factor called Essendon. They smashed you and had answers...credit where credit is due. Essendon ruined you.
Back in your box mate. My ‘horrid first half’ statement was inferring Essendon ruined us. If you can’t get that then it’s on you.

In defence of the Eagles, most sides, most years have a game or two where they are absolutely horrid and often towelled up in an upset against lesser opposition. Even sides that go on to win the flag.

One or two of these games usually has no significance come end of the year, other than the team had a bad game. There are countless examples of top 4 sides getting smashed by weak opponents over the last decade.

I'm reading nothing into this game.
That's basically true, although it is rare for a team to receive a real smashing in its flag year. These are the worst losses:
  • 2017: Richmond: 76 points
  • 2016: Bulldogs: 57 points
  • 2015: Hawthorn: 22 points
  • 2014: Hawthorn: 20 points
  • 2013: Hawthorn: 41 points
  • 2012: Sydney: 34 points
  • 2011: Geelong: 13 points
  • 2010: Collingwood: 36 points
  • 2009: Geelong: 43 points
  • 2008: Hawthorn: 32 points
  • 2007: Geelong: 20 points
  • 2006: West Coast: 57 points
So the Eagles shouldn't be too worried about a 28-point loss, but going down by 10+ goals to anyone, even if it is just one bad game, does usually signal a fatal injury to a flag campaign.
