Not really. Phillips has had 3 full seasons at *. He has played 5, 6 snd 10 games in those seasons either through injury or not being selected.

Wouldn't be playing now if 2 metre Peter was available.

Talk about the grass is greener.

They brought him in as a backup ruck. Exactly the role he has fulfilled.

Who's our backup ruck in a system that has proven to work better with two rucks?

We saw what happened on Thursday when we can't win ball use.

Could sure use a plodder like Phillips who you can plug in for a few games and can back him to line up for his shot on goal when his number is called.

Andy plays his role perfectly well. He's not a world beater but he doesn't have to be

We have had our best start to a season since 1995 and we are going backwards lol

The overreaction to losing a game to Adelaide they were set up to win is startling.

There are facts about list deficiencies and questions over our gameplan when we're unable to put our best structure on the park and then there are statements like "we're going backwards."

We still need to earn it instead of people taking finals for granted and getting ahead of ourselves.

I don't think the club is taking anything for granted but I do believe many have with their expectations and that's where the overreaction comes from

You know this thread has reached peak misery when people are regretting moving on Andrew Phillips.

Not regretting moving him on. Just wish we had another decent ruck option. Would be very handy to have something we could call upon now that Pitto is sidelined again.

Instead, we have this bloke the club is allegedly high on yet every time it's discussed he seems just as far from AFL footy as he was before.

We pretty much traded him for pittonet who is a better ruckman but struggles to stay on the park.

Phillips is better up forward but not great.

Our problem is that TDk struggles against big bodied blokes (think O'Brien, Nankervis etc) who knock him off his line. Pittonet doesn't but hasn't been available enough.

Neither offer much up forward which tdk really should.

The problem us not that we don't have someone like Phillips. The problem is that on paper our 2 ruckman have points of difference but in reality we haven't seen that. In fact it almost been the opposite.

The good news is that Marshall, whilst being a good ruckman doesn't play the big body game that TDK struggles with. Hopefully we can at least break even there.

10 day break and no concussion so hopefully Pitt is good to go for Saints. Yep I caught a bit of Mirkov on the weekend and wasn't overly impressed - seems O'Keefe is the back up to the back up (haven't watched him at all). But for now TDK and Pitt should service us well enough for 2023 if they can stay on the park

Should be hopefully a close game between Port and The Doggies tonight. Aside from The Suns v Freo clash (which was surprisingly entertaining and fun) all of the games so far this weekend have been disappointing blow out fizzles (although took great delight since Richmond put to the sword last night)

Is it too much to hope for a thriller decided by under a goal tonight.? 🤔

I'm still shattered about Gavin Exell..

wick, it's too easy and completely nonsensical to make these types of statements without looking at the context of why we made a particular decision in the first place - you can't keep a player on the list because he might be good injury cover 2 years down the track - neither should we be hanging onto players for fear they may perform at another club, of course some will - hindsight wishing for players we've moved on makes no sense at all - I reckon this year it's pretty obvious some familiar faces won't be around the place ......

Agree with you mostly. I just believe AFL list management requires 3 AFL grade rucks. The last time we had a third it was Phillips. We replaced him with Pittonet then Kreuzer retired and we're yet to replace him. 3 years later now.

If Mirkov comes good and shows something then I'll readily admit I am wrong.
